Vlawde Posted June 23, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 23, 2016 (edited) It got old real quick for me. Apparently I'm not the only one, haven't heard it played on radio or elsewhere for years Edited June 23, 2016 by Vlawde

That's cool. I just think the lead singer's voice is uniquely expressive, his fellow musicians are awesome, and the cinematography for the vid is not too bad. The reason she doesn't like the song has nothing to do with its creative artistry at all (good or bad) She doesn't like it because the lyrics "appreciates" women and she hates that because she is a hard-core fundamentalist Christian. I happen to like the tune, it's artistry and such. I just don't view it in same way as she does. I respect quality musicians from a broad spectrum of genre. She does not. And if someone would say "That is NOT quality", all I can say is that they have at least partially succeeded in the music industry and YOU have not. (not you, LZ, just a general statement) Edited June 23, 2016 by pallidin
LV-426 Posted June 23, 2016 #8 Share Posted June 23, 2016 Just being my usual jocular self pallidin. No deep meaning there Head over to the Music you are listening to ♪ ♫ thread if you're partial to the odd tune. All tastes welcome! Not sure why, but it seems to have slowed down in there since the forum update.

I'm more familiar with the covers but I chose the original recordings for the male perspectives. Btw, did you know that the My Maria you posted is a cover? Here's the original recording which I like a heck of a lot more.

Habitat Posted July 1, 2016 #19 Share Posted July 1, 2016 They might say they love their dear old mom, but talk is cheap. And if their old mom is as lovable as they are, well........

Be suspicious of anyone who's kind to animals and loves their dear old mom. Excepting special circumstance, I've noticed (through YouTube clips of persons in prisons) how much they seemingly default to have such a new, strong love for their mom, even if they hated her previously. I noticed this in my brother. Early-on he was a terror to the community and to mom. When, years later, he finally "snapped-out" of being such an unempathetic d***, he expressed more love for mom than the rest of us ever did. Almost like he was "internally sorry for all the harm he caused with our mom and was trying to atone for it", or something.
