questionmark Posted June 29, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 29, 2016 Quote LONDON — Standing on the steps of the Irish Embassy in London, Alison Rayner looked at her Irish wife and blurted out: “You’re European, and I am not!” For Rayner, a 63-year-old British jazz musician who travels around Europe, it was not a comforting thought. But like many Brits, she is considering applying for an Irish passport as a way to cling onto her E.U. citizenship following Britain’s decision to leave the European Union. Many Britons are scrambling to apply for passports from countries within the E.U., as a way to stay in the bloc even as their country waves goodbye. LV-426 Posted June 30, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2016 Shocking... another pro-EU, anti-Brexit post from questionmark! Is it just that you never sleep, and come here to bait the Brits when everyone is tucked up in bed Stateside? Maybe you can't get a rise from fellow Americans with anti-Trump posts in the wee small hours? Or perhaps you have an English ex-wife who took you to the cleaners in the divorce settlement? There has to be some reason for the lack of love QM... I just gots to know...

I think it may be the crushing defeat and angst of returning to Iowa from a Greek Island No offense to native Iowans mind you. I've never been to a Greek Isle but I have driven past miles and miles of beautiful Iowa cornfields.
stevewinn Posted August 9, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 9, 2016 Always look at the numbers behind the headline. - IF we was to take the Headline used by the OP at face value. you'd think everyone was applying for the passport - But lets look in detail, the "Stampede" for the passports is 6,638 applications - The figure for the same time last year before Brexit was 2,568 applications that means out of a population of 64 million people 4,070 more than normal have applied in comparison to July 2015. a stampede indeed.

That is such a huge increase the word stampede is indeed justified!
+Hammerclaw Posted August 10, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 10, 2016 Well, you're not out of the woods or the EU yet, Brexiters. You are taking something intangible yet, never-the-less, precious away from remainers. There may yet be some procedural way for them to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat or forestall Brexit indefinitely.
