Anomalocaris Posted July 1, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 1, 2016 7 Ways That People Died Trying To Become Immortal Quote Would you risk your life if you thought it might mean extending it? Would you die now if you thought you could be revived at some point in the future? Contrary to legend, Juan Ponce de Leon didn't really die searching for the Fountain of Youth, but some people have perished in the quest for extended youth and immortality. These aren't people who died in hopes of achieving spiritual immortality in some afterlife, but people who hastened their deaths in the hopes of extending life on Earth... +DieChecker Posted July 2, 2016 #4 Share Posted July 2, 2016 I'd argue that some historical figures, like Hammurabi, and Gilgamesh, are now immortal. Immortal in the way that their names will live forever.

Podo Posted September 9, 2016 #9 Share Posted September 9, 2016 I'd rather wait for the inevitable advent of bionics within all of our lifetimes. I will be the first in line to shed my squishy human body for a superior robotic one.

quiXilver Posted September 23, 2016 #21 Share Posted September 23, 2016 I have no interest in immortality and think folks who do, haven't thought it through very deeply. It would be a curse to me, not a blessing, nor something to seek out. Without the mental faculties and character traits to deal with the absolutely stunning level of change in society after just a few generations, that would become unbearable; but would be as nothing compared to the repeated heart break with the inevitable loss of every single human or animal you ever forge a bond with... well perhaps you see what I mean. quiXilver Posted September 23, 2016 #23 Share Posted September 23, 2016 I just recently returned from a cross country road trip with my wife and son, we brought my Mother's remains to put her to rest with her family in the small graveyard outside the town she was born in... So we turned delved into some of the amazing places between SoCal and South Dakota. We explored two National Parks, nine states and had about 1,000 laughs. I'm semi-retired, but love my job when I'm at it. I have been married to my College sweetheart for 28 years now, have a 10 year old boy who is equal parts compassionate and brilliant and am profoundly fortunate to have met and am in training with two 18th generation WuDang masters in Taoist energy cultivation which has helped to heal my body and calm my mind. Life is bountiful and amazing, even when challenging. Have no worries for me mate!
