Hawken Posted July 25, 2016 #26 Share Posted July 25, 2016 The D.B. Cooper mystery definitely is ranked up there with the escapees of Alcatraz- Frank Morris and The Anglin Bros.

He could be in his 70s or 80s. My parents were in their early 20s when DB made his jump and they're not quite 70 yet. We live in Washington, my mother was born in SW Washington so this story was always a topic in our house around the dinner table. I remember the hijacking! and I'm not quite 50 yet I always hoped he lived. I think he could have. But it's probably pretty unlikely he survived, but I do think it was possible he could have. It's actually an interesting debate because of the four chutes given to him, he selected the older model of chute, not either of the two newer models. . .did he pick the dummy chute because he was an amateur who didn't know about sky diving, or did he select the two older chutes (not noticing one was a dummy) because he was familiar with them? in reality, he chose the C9 canopy. . .which was the toughest canopy available.

Possibly with the intentions of contacting his family one day in the future, even years, but that never happened. Unless he managed to make it to somewhere like La Rinconada, (that would have been a trek) I reckon the wild got him before the FBI could. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/09/08/self-styled-sleuths-sue-fbi-for-db-cooper-files.html
