jethrofloyd Posted July 30, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2016 Putrid-Smelling Corpse Flower Finally Blooms: Watch It Live http://www.livescience.com/55593-corpse-flower-blooms-nyc-watch-live.html Normally, the smell of putrefying, decaying flesh wouldn't be cause for celebration, but it is today, with the blooming of the rare but stinky corpse flower at the New York Botanical Garden (NYBG). Horticulturalists have been eyeing the flower since July 15, when they spied a bud on the rare plant. Corpse flowers bloom only once every seven to 10 years, and this is the first time that this particular plant has blossomed since the NYBG acquired it in 2007, they said.
Claire. Posted July 30, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 30, 2016 It's a shame they bloom so infrequently because they are really beautiful sci-fi like flowers.
Still Waters Posted July 30, 2016 #3 Share Posted July 30, 2016 If they had a corpse flower in the botanical gardens near us I would be interested to go and watch it bloom. Even if I had to hold my nose at the same time!
Keel M. Posted July 30, 2016 #4 Share Posted July 30, 2016 I, for one, am thankful that smell-o-vision was never a thing, to later be converted to smell-o-net.
jethrofloyd Posted July 30, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted July 30, 2016 I would love to see a corpse flower , even if I had to carry a Gas mask watching it.
