paperdyer Posted September 7, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2016 From the Article: "Every culture has a major source of complex carbohydrate," said Dr Lim. "The idea that we can’t taste what we’re eating doesn’t make sense."While it isn't clear exactly which part of the tongue is responsible for this new taste, Dr Lim believes that it makes sense from an evolutionary perspective as carbs are a good source of energy. - See more at: http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/news/298556/scientists-discover-starchy-sixth-taste" Shouldn't the article say newly discovered taste buds? rather "the newly discovered taste". It seems the taste was always there, we just didn't know how and where we tasted it. I know semantics, but it's been one of those days at work.

I bet the other senses include more variables with people too.
