Can't we just leave nature well enough alone without constantly trying to twist its laws to suit every ill-placed (and hideously selfish) desires? Nature does just fine on its own without human interference.

Podo Posted September 13, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 13, 2016 This is fantastic! Same-sex couples will be able to biologically create children, and those who are unable to conceive a baby can still make one. A wonderful development.
seeder Posted September 13, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 13, 2016 Like there isnt already a booming population.....over crowding... What about taking care of the kids in childrens home, crying out for a family...... just disregard them.....and make new ones?

It's all a crime against nature! Nature might do fine on its own, but is often at the expense of humans. If we can change that (like we have done and tried to do since the first herbal treatments), then why wouldn't we? Why shouldn't we?

XenoFish Posted September 13, 2016 #12 Share Posted September 13, 2016 To be honest. I'd rather see children adopted than this. I mean it's a good back up. But I see it as being important in the egotistical way.

Gumball Posted September 13, 2016 #15 Share Posted September 13, 2016 I know I'm going to be attacked for this but I don't understand why we continuously feel the need to re-arrange nature. It constantly shows us how much of a bad idea it is. If you are born with the inability to have kids, tough, adopt. Don't grow one. You go with what you've been handed. This is only going to become another horrible experiment. Look at the woman that had the first face transplant. Now the surgeon is against the procedures. Seemed like a great idea but actually the drugs were really bad.

So is literally any form of medicine or any practice that allows a lifeform to survive where they would otherwise die on their own. Unless you're prepared to go down the path of eugenics, that is an irrelevant argument.

People were just as judgemental of my examples (not so much regarding vaccines) when they were new, but now they're the norm. They said pretty much what you have. If this is successful, I'll bet in 50 years (less than that I'd imagine) this will be seen as normal as IVF and there will be some new treatment discovered that more small-minded people will be calling an abomination. And it's not 'twisting' the laws of nature. It's using what already exists to the advantage of our species. Also, I just can't bring myself to submit this without telling you that you clearly have no idea what patronizing means. My first sentence in reply to you was sarcastic, not patronizing. back to earth Posted September 14, 2016 #21 Share Posted September 14, 2016 I say DECREASE the population ..... DRASTICALLY ! I would rather see some air born contraceptive virus released than this 'new way to make babies '. Of course that means finding a new paradigm for everything, including economics , that isnt based on 'expansionism' . One that is based on .... God forgive me , I am about to say it publicly ..... stability and sustainability
Susanc241 Posted September 14, 2016 #22 Share Posted September 14, 2016 Article I read didn't make it clear but I assume they would still need a womb (surrogate mother) for this male/male embryo to mature? Got to admit the whole thing doesn't feel right to me and only time will tell if any offspring they do manage to bring to term and then live a normal life will have any problems like some cloned (artificially produced) animals do. I have never believed having children is a right, but a blessing, a gift. Yes, I have been able to have my own 2 daughters, one has children and the other not, due to her infertility. She was devastated but accepted her lot in this respect.
