Black Monk Posted September 24, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2016 Incredible CCTV footage shows signs of paranormal activity as objects fly off the shelves in an antique shop. It appears that previous owners are less than willing to let their belongings go without a fight at the store in Barnsley, as shelves are rocked and items are sent crashing to the ground. The footage, captured across different dates this year, shows books shaken onto the floor and figurines knocked over - without any human contact whatsoever. Zenith Posted September 24, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2016 Meh, the books seem precariously placed to begin with. Any small movement or vibration could have knocked them off the shelves.

Not as creepy as the poltergeist activity. It's the same place where the poltergeist was filmed causing a glass antiques cabinet to explode. +ouija ouija Posted September 24, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 24, 2016 Firstly, that is not an antiques shop! It's a junk shop/pound shop, both of which tend to be piled high in a very random way(as Zenith suggested). Anyone who has ever been in one of those shops knows that you only have to walk slowly, with your arms clamped to your side, down the centre of an aisle, for things to fling themselves off the shelves at you! That is what is happening here. The exploding display case is more interesting, but how could anyone prove what was happening there?

Whenever there is unexpected glass breakage, the last thing anyone should do is jump to conclusions of poltergeist activity as there are a number of logical explanations for it. Spontaneous glass breakage is not at all unusual (especially with tempered glass). If the cabinet is indeed an antique then it's unlikely the glass is tempered, but one possible explanation is that temperature combined with other factors could have resulted in some form of thermal stress. The only way to get to the bottom of it, however, is to examine a number of factors, including the type of glass, the way in which it was installed, as well as the location of the cabinet, among other things.

The breakage could have even been caused by a passing vehicle vibrating the cabinet. Shaking already fragile glass, hell it could have even been cause by a non-audible sound, something at the right frequency. Too many unknown to automatically assume it's paranormal.

Look carefully at the video. You'd be lucky to find half a dozen items that qualified as such

So no big deal. But it is as you mention quite cluttered in spots, so a few things falling off shelves should not surprise anyone.
Essan Posted September 25, 2016 #12 Share Posted September 25, 2016 Well I own an Antique Centre and we DO have things fall of shelves occasionally. Due to wobbly floorboards. But I havent filmed it to get a free advert on the Daily Mail. I stick to appearances on Antiques Roadtrip - Charles Hanson drops enough things without any need for a fictional poltergeist
