+and-then Posted October 26, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 26, 2016 Corruption is just about people being No DAMNED good. Not everyone, everywhere, of course. But enough are flawed and failed that seek high office that corruption will always be with us. I think that reality is the greatest cause of government failures through history. People start out with promise and determination to do good, then they lose their way, eventually. Trump is hardly the worst offender, though. He may be a vulgar man but he spent a lifetime BUILDING things and helping people realize some of their own dreams. Neither Hillary nor Bill can say as much. And by the time she has finished her term (s?), there will be absolutely no remaining doubt for anyone.

I don't think that a large number of good people with good intentions became corrupt, I sort of think that most of these politicians who are corrupt have always been that way. Lilly Posted October 27, 2016 #10 Share Posted October 27, 2016 I have to admit some of the things Trump wants in this regard are pretty reasonable. Term limits and not allowing foreign countries to invest in our election process are definitely needed.
Careful_perspective Posted October 27, 2016 #11 Share Posted October 27, 2016 I'm really into the idea of term limits for all politicians. Most of us can agree politics in general is incredibly corrupt. Therefore the idea of people who have been entwined and involved in this corrupt system for years and years makes me uncomfortable. Because it suggests to me that someone who has been a politican for years and has not tried to change the corruption, well, they are just too dang comfortable with it now.

Term limits will limit that.

I don't think Trump is that good of a person. I think Hillary is worse though. I also think that Trump would help in a couple areas I think are important. Immigration and the trade policy are 2. While not technically a 3rd party, Trump is as close a chance as we've had in a long time of breaking the 2 party crap.

One thing for certain I believe he would never do the things that Hillary has done....regardless of the greed for money that he openly said he chased and lived for... he hasn't ever denied that...and now he's utilizing his own wealth to rid these people from the hold they have over the country...He stood for Brexit and he stands for the U.S...he's got a lot of good people standing with him all the good guys left are standing with him... I don't think Trump is as good as this man is but I don't think this guy would had made it if he ran for office and this guy could have easily... Lilly Posted October 30, 2016 #23 Share Posted October 30, 2016 (edited) Trump has been your typical sleazy business man. He's used loop holes in the law, he's sued tons of people, he's tap danced around the tax laws. However, if he had been involved in any criminal activity that would be all over the news at this point (and I mean on every news channel). I've even heard Trump say, "I used to be one of them" (regarding the insiders). Keep in mind, the political machines of both the GOP and DNC despise Trump. Frankly, it's amazing that he's gotten this far with the only real 'dirt' on him being his own big mouth and some lewd/crude sexist remarks. So, if you're willing to risk the 'loose cannon' of Trump for possible change then he's the one you should vote for. Clinton, on the other hand, has the political machine squarely behind her. Now, the Clinton's have a very long track record of less than stellar behaviors (just google it as it's too long to list). Mrs Clinton is the very definition of a 'political insider'. Just look at how she's been able to deal with the FBI and keep herself out of jail (anyone else would have been indicted long ago). So, if you're good with the way things are going right now (Obama care, double the debt, increased immigration. open borders, very left agenda) then she's the one you should vote for. Bottom line: Both of these people are flawed candidates...it all comes down to whether one wants a progressive socialist country or a conservative democratic republic. FOR YEARS. Ok, what crimes has Trump been found guilty of? The only ones I can come with are stuff like the 'Trump University' thing (still in court) and various real estate stuff that everyone sues everyone else for all the time (hence my calling him a 'sleazy business man'). In the construction and real estate business law suits are literally rampant (I have a family member in this business). Also...if Mr Trump is involved in criminal activity why hasn't the DNC trotted out the evidence of this? I mean, now's the time to do this (if they have anything).
