XenoFish Posted December 8, 2016 #152 Share Posted December 8, 2016 It was originally meant to celebrate the winter solstice, but it was christianized, just like Easter.

lightly Posted December 9, 2016 #160 Share Posted December 9, 2016 I think most kids become bright enough to figure out that their parents were sharing these mythical beings with them ... For the fun of it. Not telling them malicious LIES to purposely cause them harm so great as to never recover from the terrible trauma and cause them to Never believe a word they say for the rest of their lives! And besides, i saw the Easter Bunny lay an egg once.

I dont know what schools you refer too. But where I come from we had a subject called religious knowledge.. The school taught us of all the major religions.. The way they taught us about it all was as a history lesson. They never told us any of it was true or not.. I remember a classmate asking the teacher if there is a god. She answered politely: I dont know I have never met one and what I believe doesnt matter its up to you to find that out for yourself. In my opinion it was the best answer she could give. I remember when I was 10 or something asking my parents if there was a god they both said that they didnt know. And they wouldnt even tell me what they believed because they did not want that to affect my view.. I had to find out for myself.. You said:whether there is a god is between the child and their parents I say NO its not.... Its only for the child to find out.. If the parent talks about any god or any religion they affect the child.
