Everdred Posted January 17, 2017 #27 Share Posted January 17, 2017 In light of the new Bluefish paper, I'd like to repost a link to an Alaskan find: http://www.uaf.edu/anthro/potter-files/technical_aspects.pdf This worked tusk from Beringia dates to 35,000 BP. Naturally there are questions about the actual date of the work on the tusk, since tusks can be worked thousands of years after the animal dies, so this doesn't constitute conclusive proof of human activity 35,000 BP. But, now that the early dating for the Bluefish Caves is confirmed, we can more reasonably consider the possibility that this tusk was worked around the same time or even earlier. Obviously the date of the tusk is still much older than the Bluefish Caves bones, but it's something to consider.
jmccr8 Posted February 3, 2017 Author #28 Share Posted February 3, 2017 I had been waiting for this paper to be available and it has finally been added so I am putting it here. This paper discusses analysis of the use of fire at the cave shelter at Lapa Do Santo during the holocene period. https://www.academia.edu/27305285/Buried_in_ashes_Site_formation_processes_at_Lapa_do_Santo_rockshelter_east-central_Brazil._Available_online._Journal_of_Archaeological_Science jmccr8

jmccr8 Posted February 23, 2017 Author #37 Share Posted February 23, 2017 I am going to post three links. The first is about the site at Quintana Roo, some of us have posted about this site in the past and I watch for any new information that comes up. https://www.academia.edu/31076694/The_First_Human_Settlers_on_the_Yucatan_Peninsula_Evidence_from_Drowned_Caves_in_the_State_of_Quintana_Roo_South_Mexico?auto=download&campaign=weekly_digest The following link looks at an interesting concept and uses high precision radiocarbon dating of political collapse of The Mayans. Makes me wonder if it could be used to determine political life spans in the present. https://www.academia.edu/31063095/High-precision_radiocarbon_dating_of_political_collapse_and_dynastic_origins_at_the_Maya_site_of_Ceibal_Guatemala_Inomata_et_al._2017_?auto=download&campaign=weekly_digest I am adding this one on linguistic comparisons of the Sino-Tibetan and Na Dene, I haven't had time to finish reading it but will before the night ends. https://www.academia.edu/8616697/Sino-Tibetan_ŋ-_and_Na-Dene_kw-_gw-_xw-_1st_person_pronouns_and_lexical_cognate_sets?auto=download&campaign=weekly_digest jmccr8
Podo Posted February 23, 2017 #38 Share Posted February 23, 2017 (edited) http://maps.fphlcc.ca/ http://www.firstvoices.com/ Map of all the indigenous languages of BC. Furthermore, the associated website has resources to help with revitalization for many BC native languages. It's a great resource. My favourite is Kwak'wala. docyabut2 Posted April 14, 2017 #41 Share Posted April 14, 2017 It is a fact that by the American bones found , America Indians came over here from the Bering straits or from the Polynesian islands. There really is no evidence of anyone coming from the Atlantic ocean until the Vikings.
