Not a day goes by that I don't think of him. But I'm confident of his survival skills and have no doubt that he's probably in Chesapeake Bay stuffing his face with fish he's stolen from other juvies. His parents trained him well, and he was already trying to hunt on his own before he left. The next three years will be spent surviving day by day. After that he will start looking for a mate, and will most likely settle near his natal nest area somewhere in SW Florida (unless he meets someone elsewhere who has other plans). You could tell just by observing him that he will make a great parent and provider, so whoever lands him will be fortunate. Not sure if you're aware of this or not as it happened before we started following the nest. An absolutely gorgeous sub-adult visited the nest tree last November, and again in December a couple of weeks before E9 hatched. He seemed extremely familiar with the area and very comfortable and relaxed in the tree. Given his age, experts following the nest were convinced it was E6. E6 was quite an aggressive eagle and hardcore survivor, whilst E9 was more curious and playful in comparison (but still no pushover by any means). So who knows, maybe we'll see the little Niner again in three years or so. I don't know abut you, but I will definitely be watching for him. That little one totally captured my heart. .ZZ. Posted July 5, 2017 #205 Share Posted July 5, 2017 ^ I had no idea about E6 at all. Thanks for that. I hope we see him (E9) again, that would be great. He's a little over 7 months old now. What a joy to watch him grow up, I'll never forget it.

Angel of the morning indeed!
