Star of The Omen sentenced today for attack

The Omen may have given significance to the dreaded number 666, but it's Friday 13th that's proving unlucky for Harvey Spencer Stephens, the former child actor who played Damien in classic horror film The Omen.

Stephens will be sentenced today after admitting to two counts of actual bodily harm when he punched two cyclists in August last year.

The Sun reports that Stephens, 46, committed "a road rage offence in which he brutally assaulted two middle-aged cyclists without provocation.

Pity he's been sentenced for attacking cyclists. He should have been given a knighthood.

Without provocation? we have not heard his side..yet. But it is possible the road rage started because of selfish cyclists thinking they own the whole road and nearly causing accidents - it may not be of course, but I have seen many do this.

Maybe there will be a cctv somewhere to show who started this?

ps: I am nt anti cyclist, just do not like them on the road when they think they do not need to look, indicate or give a damn about any one else - we already have this problem with some car drivers, but the cyclists do not pay road tax or have insurance to ride on the roads.

Over 22,000 people have signed an online petition calling for British cyclists to ‘hold insurance and pay road tax’.

Owen McDermott created the petition, which will be delivered to prime minister Theresa May. In the text accompanying the petition, McDermott says: “The public roads used by motor vehicles are becoming unsafe to use due to one particular community that feel they are eligible to cycle on public UK roads”.

“Just like having to sit your theory and your practical test to obtain a driving license [sic], Cyclists should have to do the same. What training have they had to use the road safely?

Unfortunately, in the eyes of the law in this country, the motorist is always to blame, never the cyclist.

When a cyclist goes through a red light - as cyclists routinely do - and nearly gets hit by a car as a result, it'll be the car driver hauled to court, not the cyclist.

Cyclists are NOT allowed to go through a red light.

Some do know this, but many do not. This is where the la has to be changed where cyclists have to take a test before going on a public road:

Below is a list, I see these happening often, problem is, with a motorist, you take their registration number,  = cyclists do not have one. So how do you report them?

Cyclists must not:

  • Ride under the influence of drink or drugs
  • Ride in a dangerous, careless or inconsiderate manner
  • Carry a passenger unless the bike has been adapted to carry one, for example a bike with a child’s seat
  • Hold on to a moving vehicle or trailer
  • Cycle on a pavement, unless it’s a shared pavement or one with a cycle path on it
  • Ride through red traffic lights

Cyclists must:

  • Have front and rear lights lit at night - flashing lights are now permitted.
