Still Waters Posted January 17, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2017 A rare fossilised lizardfish, never before seen in Australia, has been unearthed outside Richmond in outback Queensland. Canadian tourists Gary and Barbara Flewelling discovered the sharp-toothed creature in October at a local fossil finding site. "We hadn't been out here very long, simply turning over the layers of limestone and the first thing that showed up was just the tail," Mrs Flewelling said. "And with the next slab in front of it, we turned that up, and there was the centre of it with all the vertebrae and all of the ribs. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-01-12/tourists-discover-lizardfish-fossil-richmond/8064516

A lot of them will have some sort of volunteer program. Though what you'll be doing depends on what they're working on. I've worked a couple of forts, a native mound site. And spend several hours in a small building sorting out pieces of brick from other brick.
