Still Waters Posted January 18, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 18, 2017 Fort William's Christmas tree is staying up because a pigeon is nesting in its branches. The bird was discovered when Highland Council workers began efforts to remove the tree and lights. Scottish Natural Heritage said the bird could be scared off, but councillors have agreed to wait until the pigeon eventually gives up the nest. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-38662223

Still Waters Posted January 19, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted January 19, 2017 Quote "Although the pigeon is not a protected species, http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-38662223 It is according to this - http://www.snh.gov.uk/protecting-scotlands-nature/protected-species/which-and-how/birds/ We get pigeons nesting in a tree in our garden, now the leaves have all fallen off the nest is very exposed. A couple of times lately we've noticed a pigeon sitting in the nest, not sure yet what it's doing there, they usually nest when the tree has leaves.
