Still Waters Posted January 19, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2017 New Zealand appears to be taking a calculated risk with its otherwise strict environmental policy by using foreign species to fight an invasive and destructive plant. The country is well known for its strategy of protecting its wildlife and flora from species introduced from abroad, but the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is to relax these rules to combat the reed Arundo donax, otherwise known as elephant grass or giant reed, http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-news-from-elsewhere-38680113
Ashotep Posted January 19, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2017 Since its already been tried elsewhere hopefully they will get good results and not just end up with different problem. I would hate Elephant grass taking over. At 26 ft tall its almost a tree.

Kismit Posted January 19, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 19, 2017 Epa have kept it very quiet. There is very large group of environmentalist over here. I guess they waited to get the information out until it was too late to stop it. Sadly it's been a trademark for the National government this last few years.
