In a Jan. 18 tweet, the company said that the performance of its Bigelow Expandable Activity Module (BEAM) “continues to outperform expectations.” The module, built under a NASA contract and flown to the station on a SpaceX Dragon cargo spacecraft in April 2016, was installed on the station and expanded to its full size in late May. Waspie_Dwarf Posted December 5, 2017 Author #2 Share Posted December 5, 2017 NASA Extends Expandable Habitat's Time on the International Space Station Quote The Bigelow Expandable Activity Module, known as BEAM, will remain attached to the International Space Station to provide additional performance data on expandable habitat technologies and enable new technology demonstrations. NASA awarded a sole-source contract to Bigelow Aerospace to support extension of the life of the privately-owned module, and its use to stow spare space station hardware.
