Australian Expenses Fiddling

Eldorado

Recommended Posts

"A trip to a holiday destination that facilitated the purchase of a luxury apartment, chartering private planes for trips at least six times the cost of the equivalent domestic commercial fare, and lavish parties with high-profile business identities are among the charges to the taxpayer that have landed sidelined-frontbencher Sussan Ley in hot water.

But these hardly rank among the most outrageous expense claims parliamentarians have had Australian taxpayers foot the bill for.

Taking advantage of loosely defined expense definitions and privileges rarely seen in any other line of work, our highest ranking MPs have made a habit of making claims most Aussie workers never dream of getting away with.

And it’s not just politicians who are permitted to take advantage of the loose expense guidelines, which the government is under pressure to rein in, but their families as well."

Looks like we have a worldwide problem.

This is one of many reasons why Australians feel disillusioned about the main stream parties that govern us with a almost god-like mandate.

And why the Australian equivalent of UKIP looks set to havevthe numbers to hold the balance of power - if not be the legitimate opposition - in Queensland in a few months after the state election.

Pauline is a klutz. But the electorate is screaming out for a new party and less of more of the same. I don't think that One Nation can be fairly compared to the UKIP as One Nation doesn't have a coherent policy on governing or any other issue other than being a lighting rod for people feed up with the status quo. They see Pauline Hanson as a protest vote and that's really all she is. She has no substance just the ability to point out the obvious which in itself is not enough. Australia need better and a real third party and possibly a forth too.

I can see the Xenophon party having legs, perhaps the Human Headline Party too if they starts to be a definitive voting bloc that sticks to its guns.

One Nation is just too "Right arm of the LibNats" to do anything other than divide the vote - except here in Queensland where 40% of polled people want her to be PM, if those numbers hold true for the state election then they are viable as the opposition and possibly minority governmentdepending on how much of a pig's ear Labor makes of these last couple of months.
