Still Waters Posted February 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2017 Scientists are hopeful that humans could be able to hibernate within a matter of years – a move that could revolutionise cancer treatment and space travel. Experiments on rats with cancer found that when they hibernate they become much more resistant to radiation, while their tumours remained vulnerable. This has raised hopes that inducing a state of ‘synthetic torpor’ in humans would allow cancer victims to withstand much higher doses of radiation than they can at the moment, significantly increasing their chance of survival, the Italian physicist Marco Durante told the American Association for the Advancement of Science annual meeting in Boston. https://inews.co.uk/essentials/news/science/hibernation-pave-way-cancer-treatment/
khol Posted February 20, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 20, 2017 Anything that can help people with cancer I'm all over that. Radiation tho still seems an invasive and antiquated method in achieving this? The cancer has already taken hold and now has to be dealt with.Understanding whats going on at the molecular or cellular levels are key.Educating people better on lifestyle choices would aid in prevention
