Popular Post +OverSword Posted February 24, 2017 Popular Post #1 Share Posted February 24, 2017 Here is my interpretation of the Jimi Hendrix classic. I've tried to record this a few times and I just can't seem to make it through without playing a bit sloppy. It probably doesn't help that this was last night after happy hour with a few coworkers but the atmosphere seemed right when I got home and there was a fire going as per my promise to the Devils Aunt.
Eldorado Posted February 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 24, 2017 (edited) *applause* My fave Hendrix song. Will the wind ever remember The names it has blown in the past And with this crush it's old age and it's wisdom It whispers no this will be the last And the wind cries Mary. Helen of Annoy Posted February 24, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2017 Wonderful... fire! It's a shame you can't really see it or hear it crackling from that guy up front... Kidding! Kidding! It was really beautiful. You must not let your perfectionism stop you from sharing your music with us.

+OverSword Posted February 27, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted February 27, 2017 One of the really interesting things about this song is that when it was originally recorded they were recording a B-side for the Purple Haze single. They had 20 minutes of studio time left and Jimi says to Chaz, "Hey like I wrote this groovy number last night so uh, lets give it a try" So Jimi went over it really quickly with the rest of the band who had yet to hear it and they laid it down in one take. Jimi then added a backing track and instant classic. That's usually something that a band that has jammed together daily for five or so years may be able to pull off (speaking from experience) but the experience had only been together a couple of months which makes the version of this song that everyone is familiar with an especially amazing piece of work.
