The cyberattack unit of Israel's fraud squad arrested the Jewish suspect, 19, on Thursday in wake of information it received from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation and other law-enforcement authorities abroad. Police seized computers and other items that allegedly allowed him to perpetrate the threats in a manner that made it difficult for the police to locate him.

"We believe he is responsible for the wave of calls, bomb threats, made to Jewish community centers in the United States," the police spokesman said.

"While the details of this crime remain unclear, the impact of this individual’s actions is crystal clear: These were acts of anti-Semitism. These threats targeted Jewish institutions, were calculated to sow fear and anxiety, and put the entire Jewish community on high alert."

Well, I said it before regarding these bomb threat calls that we should not overreact and think the sky is falling. All it takes is a troll, a hater, a prankster, a whatever to cause a whole mountain of consternation. We should not give these people that power. But yes, we have to deal with the threats too.

But in a bigger context, I see many wanting to try to tie this and other hate crimes into some neo-conservative wave of intolerance in the country. This is going too far and makes us feel more polarized. Although there will always be unfortunate incidents, IN GENERAL, I think Americans are very good people and do not mistreat others because of their race, ethnicity or religion. It seems to me some on the left want to overplay unfortunate incidents to insinuate there is some general neo-conservative hate wave raising its head (particularly since the last election).

He wasn't solely responsible.  They busted a black guy not long ago too.  He was a former reporter and a liberal.

So this is a news story about a 19 year old idiot making hoax bomb threats?

It's been widely speculated for months now that it had to be a white, Neo-Nazi, Trump supporter. It's nice to put an end to these rumors.

Still waiting for those same talking heads to eat their words about "the rise of anti-semitism and the far-right."

This is very similar in nature to all those backwards imitation Swastikas.

maybe he isn't an idiot after all.

A judge ordered the suspect, who has not been charged, held until at least March 30, ordered a medical examination and imposed an order of silence forbidding Israeli authorities to release his name.

“He suffers from a brain tumor that may have had an effect on his cognitive functions,” his lawyer, Galit Bash, said in a statement released by the Office of the Israeli Public Defender. According to Israeli news media, Ms. Bash told the court that the suspect had not gone to regular schools since first grade, and had the tumor for several years. He has no criminal record, the statement said.

It affected his cognitive functions but thankfully left his advanced computer skills and literacy intact.

The same holds true for the bona fide Klan members, about whom the Marxists chant. They're just a bit more plentiful than leprechauns and unicorns. A Black guy is responsible for some of the threats, and a Jewish guy is responsible for most of the threats. What will the PC pundits do if the vandal, linked to the desecration of Jewish cemeteries, turns out to be an Asian Muslim?

I'm married to a Jew.  I participated in genetic testing, and found that even though culturally I'm Sicilian, my maternal haplogroup is one of a few that gave rise to the Ashkenazim.

With that being said, there is a lot of anti Semitism out there.  I'm hyper aware of it now, but even in paces like Twitter and Facebook, I have seen people blame 'the Jews' for a myriad of things.

What is interesting, is that the same people who are anti Semitic, will also disavow racism.

But there is a lot of Jew hating people out there, and it extends well beyond 'Nazis'.  It has become so bad the last couple years, we are teaching our son not to tell people his father is a Jew, or that he is either, in an effort to keep him safe.

Most alleged hate crimes indeed turn out to be nothing. The propaganda news outlets make something out of them, though.

Yes, well, the people you are talking about, the ones that call  themsevles "Liberal" but are really far-Left loons who make up Hillary's base.... are not the ones you will ever hear from about there on this thread.

They can't bring themselves to even look at it.

They certainly won't ever answer it in any way.

If they did, it would be that much harder for them to pretend this guy never existed, and it would also make it harder for anyone to believe the very next screeching rant about how many bazzilions of Nazis there are everywhere and how evil & stupid Americans are and just how much racism there is and how it controls every thought, word and deed of all white people everywhere.

Because you know, that is exactly what they will resume saying on Monday, right on time, as always.

Its actually much more simple than you'd expect. Dont believe the hype. Any (significant) hype. Be it the continuous Wolf Screaming of 'anti semitism', or continuous efforts at 'Islamic = terror' narrative hypes.

Any significantly broad hype implies significant efforts at dissemination. And to foment such broad dissemination, there needs to be significant funds and efforts allocated. Such funds and efforts will only be spend if there is something to gain. And that something is, as a rule, not in the interest of the population at large. Not on a geo strategical level.. Think it safe to say this is public engineering, nothing new under the sun.

The gains the Zionists have achieved based on the use of the anti Semitism card are obvious.

The gains certain other elements achieved and are achieving in the whole 'War on Islam' aka 'War on Terror' ploy, is equally obvious. I would be employing the exact same tactics if I were, well, lets say 'on the other side'.
