Claire. Posted March 28, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2017 Friendly Felines: Cats Like People (Really!), Study Says Do cats like being around people, or are they only using humans to open doors and operate can openers? A new study suggests that human contact is more important to cats than previously suspected (though, arguably, cat owners knew that all along). HollyDolly Posted March 28, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 28, 2017 Oh my God, they had to spend money on this study? Really? When I get home from work I'll sit on my bed and the next thing you know is my three cats will jump on the bed and try and lay on me. I have to pet their heads and rub bellies and then they are happy mom loves them. Happens every day to me. One of my cats Sally, enjoys sitting on my shoulder as i recline in bed watching tv.A couple of weeks ago Sheba had a mouse in her mouth.I could see the thing hanging out of her mouth.Told her thank you for the gift, but you can't bring mousey in the house. Well she looked at me and then dropped it and ran inside.

.ZZ. Posted March 28, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 28, 2017 Our 3 cats like us for sure. Yes, it's hard to gather them when it's time to "go to bed", but all we need to do is sit in a chair and they will jump into our laps to get a little "chumming" aka petting.
GlitterRose Posted March 28, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 28, 2017 That's not what I'm reading. Fifty percent chose other activities. So it's 50/50. They can take us or leave us, depending on whether or not they find other things more interesting. Sounds about right.
Likely Guy Posted March 28, 2017 #6 Share Posted March 28, 2017 Bones likes me. He likes me to open the door to let him in. He likes me to open the door to let him out. He likes me when I refill his food dish.He likes me when I refill his water bowl. He likes me when I give him cat treats. He likes me to scratch the spots he can't reach. The only time I can tell we he loves me is when he gives me a head butt.
Totah Dine Posted March 29, 2017 #7 Share Posted March 29, 2017 I have a Siamese. She is the epitome of indifference. She has no loyalty except to her food bowl and that one sunny spot in the living room that belongs ONLY to her. Heaven help the person or fellow pet that is foolish enough to sit or lie there.

We have four now and they are all very distinct individuals who continuously amaze me wit their range of emotions. Al rescues so you never know what they experienced before landing in a safe place where they are loved.
