The Tragedy of Madam Piggott Restless Spirit

About 20 miles outside Shrewsbury is the small village of Chetwynd and like a good number of seemingly harmless rural villages it holds a dark secret and a vengeful spirit.  PHILIP DAVIES goes in search of the restless ghost of the unfortunate Madam Piggott.

The Manner of the Manor

The Chetwynd Estate lies on the outskirts of Newport in Shropshire and can trace its history back to the Domesday Book where it was recorded as being made up on a mill and two fisheries.  It was shortly afterwards in Saxon times that the manor was built as a home of Leofric who was the the Earl of Mercia. It is the latter stages of Chetwynd Manor’s history that interest us though, when the estate came under the ownership of the Piggott family....

Interesting. Seems some researchers have been there and got some evidence. But the last being a failed appearance.

There is that question that still lingers and have yet to be solved. How long does a haunting last? Whether it's a residual or intelligent how long can it last? Residual is compared to a record, and when a record gets played too often the grooves fade, so does a residual fades over time? And why do some residuals last for centuries while others are only a moment? Intelligent is different since one's not really sure if they can create portals to get to other locations or even just to stop by on our plane of existence. How long would an intelligent hang around before saying; "Well, this revenge stuff is quite boring." and just go on? Why do some intelligent hauntings last through the ages while others seem to diminish on their own?

Will keep my eye on this to see if there's any new evidence captured there. The place is beautiful, a nice Victorian cold night by the fireplace telling stories beautiful.
