Antarctica melting faster than whe thought

Occult Mafia 2000

While it's no secret that the ice on Earth's poles is melting, scientists are still learning about how rapidly these changes are happening.

Now a new study of water across the surface of Antarctica finds that the melting is occurring to a greater degree than previously thought.

Water streaming across Antarctica surprises, worries scientists:

In a unique study spanning the entire continent, scientists have found that water is gushing across Antartica — more than they ever realized.

The researchers from Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory have found significant drainage of meltwater flowing across the continent’s ice sheets during summer in Antarctica. Until now, these streams of water were mainly associated only with Antarctica’s far north regions.

Don't worry too much, I have it on good authority that it just is a conspiracy by the Chinese to damage the US economy.* :innocent:

*The sad thing is that some people really think that. :(

Its about time! whew, there was way WAY ! too much ice down there over the last few decades.

But they mention increased loses...which mean the lose....has increased. The snow may still be  falling...but if the ice is melting because of warming...then eventually so too will the snow...irrelevent of how much is falling.

The thing the researchers are watching, is not the amount of snow falling, but the rise in sea levels.

Melting ice is not the only contributor to rising sea levels anyway. An often overlooked, but potentially more potent, factor is that when water increases in temperature it expands (Thermal expansion). When the oceans expand the sea level rises and this is independent of any antarctic ice melting.

This means that even if antartica gets more ice the oceans will still rise due to thermal expansion as long as the temperatures are rising.

Very clever people they are.  And they will get away with it too.  If it doesn't get covered by Infowars or Breitbart or the oil companies don't like it, it is just fake news.

Gotta admit it would make an epic disaster movie: a whole state flaming as it sinks under the sea.

So the studies, and there's no end to them, are all on snow accumulation in the Antarctic. Interesting.  Warm water expanding and sea levels rising and fires, its the end of the world.

True , true true, you got that right, maybe they're working on one now or at least an idea in hollywood.  I know some of the documentaries seem to hint fairly hard every minute or so that the sky is falling for some reason lately.  It probably is. Good grief.

Not to worry. Antarctica is over twice the size of Australia and won't run out of ice any time soon.

The last satellite image i got few months ago they was showing the north of canada ice free covered in water and this was last summer

And the satellite image of France last summer showed vegetation all dryed passed from green to brown

Since two years now they is continuous wildfire on earth not a single week passed since two years without a wildfire ...

The planet is on fire
