The article mentions cuckooflower which got me thinking back to when I was a kid.  We used to go picking wild flowers and on the stems of some we'd see what was called cuckoo spit, inside the 'spit' we'd sometimes find a tiny insect. I wondered if there was any connection between the two but apparently not, cuckoo spit is found on a variety of different plants.
