Myles Posted April 28, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 28, 2017 http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/04/28/yale-grad-students-hunger-strike-apparently-involves-eating-when-hungry.html A group of Yale University graduate students announced Tuesday evening that they would be undertaking a hunger strike to pressure the administration into granting them better union benefits. The strike is taking place in front of University President Peter Salovey’s home. "Yale wants to make us wait and wait and wait … until we give up and go away," the eight members of the graduate student union Local 33 announced. "We have committed ourselves to waiting without eating." Yale doctoral students currently earn a stipend $30,000 a year, receive free health care, and have their $40,000 tuition paid in full, according to Yale News.

Dark_Grey Posted April 28, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 28, 2017 Myles, you're missing the punchline! Quote As it turns out, the hunger strike might not put anyone's health in peril. According to a pamphlet posted on Twitter by a former Yale student, the hunger strike is "symbolic" and protesters can leave and get food when they can no longer go on.
+OverSword Posted April 28, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 28, 2017 Quote Just how fatuous are Ivy-League graduate students? Nobody really knows. But this is nice: Yale graduate students, members of the Local 33 student union (yes, really), have begun "an indefinite, collective fast in front of University President Peter Salovey’s home." "What are they complaining about?", well might you ask. Let's leave aside the preposterous fact that graduate students are members of a labor union. There is also the supreme silliness that these aging snowflakes already get free tuition, free health care, and a $30,000 stipend. Feel badly for them? It gets better. link

The divide between the rich and the poor isn't just monetary, now there is a cultural and moral divide as their spoiled children are raised by Marxist Professors. These kids only know an America with a black man as President while they live in all-white neighborhoods. There is a major perspective issue - insignificant problems to us are life-threatening catastrophes to them.

Sir Wearer of Hats Posted April 28, 2017 #14 Share Posted April 28, 2017 I have a university degree. in fact, I have a Masters degree. and in all the time I was at uni, eight odd years, not a once was there a protest that got violent, or a hunger strike, or political shenanigans or anything like that. there were a couple of protests, and (as per usual) it was the Arts students who started it and the science students who told them all to "****ing get out of their way because they were on their way to classes". But they were a few twits on the quad with signs who were basically just venting with a bit of shouting and a lot of apologising when their shouting got too loud. there was only one barney, and that was because some twit from the Socialist Society gobbed off at one of the education students and... well when it comes to pent up aggression you can't beat a teacher, even a trainee one. Most of the time was spent studying or going to work. So how the hell do American uni students find the time to protest? Is it terribly easy at American universities?
kmt_sesh Posted April 29, 2017 #15 Share Posted April 29, 2017 I went to college. Twice, actually. I don't remember ever being this boorish, effete. or pretentious. What's become of college students? These people need to grow up.
XenoFish Posted April 29, 2017 #16 Share Posted April 29, 2017 This junk doesn't happen in trade school. Plus you only learn what you need for what you're taking, it's a lot cheaper, and there is a higher chance of getting a real job.

The sweet, delicious irony is the far-Left had a chance to be that new counter-culture. But like a little kid with matches, they proved in a short time they can't be trusted with it. They went too far, too fast and left the mainstream scratching their heads. Enter the new pariahs of the 20th Century: Conservative youth.
