I assume (and I do not mean any disrespect by that) you are of the opinion that they coexisted with humanity (well, a longer period in the case of the Elasmotherium), do you consider either to be a likely candidate for the re'em? I personally do not believe that they are, but will admit that aside from them not existing in even remotely the same time and space the Elasmotherium would be a nice fit for the monokeros/re'em of the bible. We often hear about the re'em's strenght (which is why I believe it's an aurchos) and the Elasmotherium was freaking huge and immensely strong. But the Synthetoceras fits better with the modern idea of a unicorn. Do you agree that the re'em described in the bible does not necessarily correspondent to the later, romantic ideas of the European unicorn? "Dragons" and dinosaurs. Until we find an intact, fossilized unicorn, I wouldn't place a high dollar bet on any of these mythological creatures being one thing or another. I think misinterpretation, and translation are potential game changers in making a solid determination. I would be absolutely fine with each animal being it's own separate species.
