acute Posted December 15, 2017 Author #806 Share Posted December 15, 2017 Originally, an underdog was a shipbuilder who stood in a pit and sawed planks of wood from beneath, while the overdog sawed the planks from above. The underdog got dirty and covered in sawdust, yet the overdog got the credit for the work done.

Space Commander Travis Posted December 16, 2017 #810 Share Posted December 16, 2017 Possible German translations of Department of Homeland Security are Heimatschutzministerium or Ministerium für Innere Sicherheit., which I'm sure you'll agree sounds like just the kind of employment opportunity for the kind of people who like wearing leather trenchcoats and make a hobby of studying the latest in Enhanced Interrogation Techniques.

Space Commander Travis Posted December 16, 2017 #812 Share Posted December 16, 2017 (edited) The the commissioners investigating (or should say "supposedly" investigating) the 9/11 attacks were given just $15 million for the entire investigation, compared to the more than $60 million that was spent on investigating William J. Clinton’s affairs with Monica Lewinsky. I wonder how much has been wasted spent on the "Russiagate" affair so far? Black Monk Posted December 17, 2017 #813 Share Posted December 17, 2017 (edited) Lincoln Cathedral was the world's tallest building between 1311 (during the reign of Edward II) and 1549 (during the reign of Edward VI), when its central spire collapsed. It was the world's first building to take the title from the Great Pyramid, which had held it for nearly 4000 years. acute Posted December 18, 2017 Author #819 Share Posted December 18, 2017 The name of the City of Birmingham most likely derives from Beorma Ingas Ham (Beorma's tribe's farm), later Beormingaham. Beorma was an Anglo-Saxon leader in the 6th or early 7th century. His tribe, the Beormingas, settled across the wider woodland area which formed the northern part of the ancient Forest of Arden.

Space Commander Travis Posted December 23, 2017 #824 Share Posted December 23, 2017 H.M. Prison Exeter has eight reviews on Google Maps. It scored a fairly average 3 out of 5, but still there seem to be more satisfied than dissatisfied customers, which I expect will be pleasing to the management.
