The old £5 note ceases to be legal currency tomorrow, and the Bank of England says there are 150million of them still in circulation.

so... whilst looking for old fivers down the back of my armchairs I came across a couple of sovereigns, 3 farthings, a crown, a "Widow's Mite", and 3 Dropa Stones - so nothing of value:mellow:

The UK government was officially 'dissolved' yesterday, as part of the run-up to the general election.

There are currently zero Members of Parliament.

I got rid of the only one I had this morning, used it to buy stamps at the post office.

Honestly SW... I thought you might have made something of a "ceremony" from spending your very last fabric fiver. I don't know, perhaps some elaborate and luxurious outing to your local hostelry and purchased half a glass of wine or half a McD's meal

The  Llangernyw Yew may be the oldest individual tree in Europe and second- or third-oldest individual tree in the world. Believed to be aged between 4,000 years and 5,000 years old, this ancient yew (Taxus baccata) is in the churchyard of the village of Llangernyw in North Wales.

Nothing so grand I'm afraid :D I was just thankful to get rid of it and I needed some stamps!

No. It's when HRH rubber-stamps the legislation.

You don't seem to have picked up on my amusing picking up of what I suspect is a typographical error.
