D.O'N Posted May 24, 2017 #28 Share Posted May 24, 2017 Im sure most go into denial about death, i know i have. Im only 25 so i have that "oh i got years left dont worry about it" mindset, but when the thought is stronger i use distractions (like watching something on youtube etc) to take my mind of it. It is a scary thought and it is pushed to the back of my mind, but i dont let it rule my life, life is too short for that.

Death is an abstract idea when dealing with ourselves, for when we think of it, we are observers. I do believe people mix up fear of death, with the process of dying which for most of us it is a long journey, it is called aging. I don't mind aging, but I am 68, so in 22 short years I will be 90 if I live that long, which I doubt I will. I do have a number of chronic health issues which will worsen as I age. Still, I am happy and don't mind aging, being younger, I was not as happy as I am now. The term one day at a time may be considered a cliche by some, but it is true. Time goes by so fast, the song "Don't Blink (?) is true to live I believe. Thank you for your honest answer. Peace mark

So much has happened to me that I feel no one will ever believe or understand.I have suffered from anxiety and depression since I was 15. Lately, I've been so sad about death. I feel like I'd be unremembered and I have nothing to show for my life. Why are so many lives filled with endless nothings. Our existence merely resembles absolutely nothing and yet we fear death? Why? It doesn't matter whether we (average nobodys) live indefinitely or not. I fear death somedays more than others. Other days I feel like I could face death straight in the eye and not feel any fear at all. It's so overwhelming and disturbing to know that our minds and thoughts are so much stronger than what we lead on to ourselves. I very much can relate. I have epilepsy and I didn't get it till I was 16. My whole life was healthy until 1 day my body just up and decided I'm going to have epilepsy for the rest of my life. I think I'm similar to you, I don't have grand mal/tonic clonic seizures in general but they have happened several times. I'm better at dealing with this now but I distinctly remember my first bad seizure and ER trip. That in itself was bad but what was worse was the next day. It was like big shift in perspective of how the world works and what my role is in it. It's a total loss of everything I was working for up until that point. 1 day life is this way, the next day that's lost forever. After living with this for a long time I've learned to cope... sorta. I'm at least better than I was in my teens/early 20s. Hang in there and if you need someone to talk to shoot me a pm.
