Strange Tales of Portals to Other Dimensions

There has been more and more weight given to the idea that there are other realities and dimensions besides our own, which bump against us and even overlap us. With this idea comes hand in hand the notion that traveling between them could also be possible, and there are accounts that point to the possibility that not only is this possible, but that such portals between these realms have already been opened. Intriguing, often a bit scary, and always weird, these cases of alleged gateways capture the imagination, and make us wonder whether alternate realities not only exist, but have already been visited by us.

If you're under a lot of stress/trauma/grief. you could certainly see some really strange things. I think the only other "dimension" that they come from, though, is our psyche.

It starts off with a nice story that drifts off to a retelling of the movie alternate realities and then goes fringie on the LHC. Sorry couldn't get myself to read the rest of the blather

Think about physics and brane theory for a handle.   Brane is short for membrane of course.  Some posit that membrane universes lie very close together, or infinitely far apart if you consider the dimensions of four-space.  Most of the people that have developed the model believe that if membranes intersected, major annihilation would occur.  Think about it, two universes maybe with different properties each moving at relativistic speeds in its own reference. A collision or a portal might not be such a good idea.
