Still Waters Posted June 3, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2017 Fossils found by workers digging a tunnel for a new railway line in Los Angeles have been identified as the remains of a giant sloth and a bison. The "amazing discovery" of a sloth's hip bone and a fragment of a bison's radius bone was made about 16ft (5m) below ground in Park Mesa Heights. Scientists say the Harlan's Ground Sloth could have weighed 1,500lb (680kg), and been up to 10ft in length. The sloth and bison species have been extinct for at least 10,000 years. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-40140565
taniwha Posted June 4, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 4, 2017 Well I'm guessing someone had the fascinating task of identification. I wonder, is it like NCIS Miami matching these fragments, is there a computer database with bone recognition technology? I mean, someone out there has a special talent to solve that puzzle, I bet that's a story in itself.

Can't say I've ever seen written words with more truth behind them. Painful experience at any DMV. Cool discovery though
