Still Waters Posted June 27, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 27, 2017 Driverless car makers are discovering a unique problem as they begin to test the vehicles in Australia. It turns out the unusual way that kangaroos move completely throws off the car's animal detection system. "We've noticed with the kangaroo being in mid-flight ... when it's in the air it actually looks like it's further away, then it lands and it looks closer," Volvo Australia's technical manager David Pickett said. But Mr Pickett said it was even more complicated than that. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-06-24/driverless-cars-in-australia-face-challenge-of-roo-problem/8574816?smid=Page: ABC News-Facebook_Organic&WT.tsrc=Facebook_Organic&sf92015434=1
Wickian Posted June 27, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 27, 2017 I will never in my life trust a vehicle that isn't controlled by a human or a genuine A.I..
Unusual Tournament Posted June 28, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 28, 2017 The term 'driverless car' is confusing. Having computer assisted cars that have a driver as a back-up is one thing... having a vehicle that has no steering wheel or pedals and requires no human interaction, travelling on voice commands only, is my idea of a driverless car. Takes the fun outta driving...
