We are our own engineers of a dying planet

Sounds a lot like the plot of the Sci-Fi movie Intersteller. Except that it is the Earth that is dying and a handful of others who set out to find us a new home. And crash....

Seriously, even Star Trek has some alien race that seeded Earth way back when, which is why so many aliens look just like humans with extra cranial bumps, and everyone can interbreed. This is not a new idea.

Add in a intergalactic version of Twister with cannibalism, weird reproductive sequences and death duels.

It would have tro be naked twister, for the necessary gratutious nude scenes

Anyway, my personal take on this is a little different.

Buried deep beneath the ice of Greenland* we discover what appears to be an alien spaceship.   A spaceship that is dormant, but with some basic repairs, still in working order .....   It's excavated and after some trials and experiments, NASA determine that it's actually a time machine, not a spacecraft.   They decide to use it to go back in time and find out what caused the Cambrian explosion.   A group of scientists board and off they go ...... wheeeee....Oooshh!!!!! **    And they are back 540 million years.   The Earth looks very different ......   But, oh no!!!!  Disaster!   Something has gone wrong with the controls and the machine crashes killing all but one of the crew.   He buried his companions on the ancient Earth and then, unable to get the machine working again by himself, commits suicide.

And thus the Cambrian explosion was caused by the arrival of dna from the future, which in turn went on to create life as we know it ......

* where some of the oldest rocks on Earth are to be found

** that's the noise a real time machine makes ;)

All right, you win. Write the screen play and UM will underwrite your film. Is $67 million sufficient?

One question: Is it Oooshh or Wooshh?
