freetoroam Posted July 20, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 20, 2017 He has done it all, murder, armed robbery, kidnapping, and has now been classed as "low risk to reoffend", and to get out with that rap sheet all he had to do was say sorry. Not sure what is more dangerous to society, him or the parole board.

Duke Wellington Posted July 20, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 20, 2017 (edited) Well he wasn't convicted for murder so for the crimes he committed he has done long enough. Edited July 20, 2017 by RabidMongoose

But he did kill her, and he should have done 33 years to compensate for getting off. Armed robbery and kidnapping, no matter what role he played, and all he serves is 9 years? Quote Simpson has served nine years of a nine-to-33-year sentence for an armed robbery and kidnapping in Las Vegas. armed robbery is 6 - 30 years and "standard" kidnapping ranges from 1-20 years, so he has basically served the minimum plus 2 years for the payback of the murder he got away with - and that is doing the time? I am sure a lot of people ( part from the parole board) will not see it that way. Edited July 20, 2017 by freetoroam

With the armed robbery and kidnap he basically wanted to get his memorabilia back which he felt strongly about. Its not robbing a bank or a shop or a person for money. I think 9 years is about right set in the correct context. Edited July 20, 2017 by RabidMongoose

There's an important distinction to be made between the two.

If a criminal trial rests on one piece of evidence which gets thrown out because it doesnt fit the hand of the accused then that's not a compelling case against him. A decent case against a person has multiple damming items of evidence. Like 4 or 5 pieces. The case built against OJ Simpson was weak.
aztek Posted July 20, 2017 #14 Share Posted July 20, 2017 (edited) he was sentenced to 33 years, released in 10, does it mean he will be on probation, and will have to see his parole officer for the next 23 years? He will be on license for a set number of years agreed by the Court. It might well be 10 years.

I would have thought he would call the police and go through the courts, maybe make a reality show out of it. The whole Simpson thing is a mockery to the law and an insult to his victims.

The point was, you said "found innocent" and there's no such thing. The prosecution either proves it's case to the jury or it doesn't, and a Not Guilty verdict only means that the jury didn't think that the prosecution proved it's case, not that the defendant was actually innocent.
