Our brains synchronize during a conversation

The rhythms of brainwaves between two people taking part in a conversation begin to match each other, concludes a new study. According to scientists, this interbrain synchrony may be a key factor in understanding language and interpersonal communication.

This is unrelated, but worth while saying about human synchronisation.

It has become accepted, that women who live together synchronise their periods (menstrual cycles).

This has now been debunked.

But it is so hard to persuade people this isn't true.

Similarly, the notion that we only use 10% of our brains (or is it 90%?) is also nonsense.

Swans can break a mans arms, too cold to snow......etc.

It is very strange how we so readily accept nonsense.

Your science may be correct Claire, perhaps we should have a thread that debunks Old Wives Tales and pseudo science.

The peroid synch hasn't been debunked to my knowledge.

Also husbands testosterone cycle tends to synch with the wife's peroid so that he has the most T when she is the most fertile

Humans tend to synch in many ways when being with people. Language/words used, tobe, body language, mood. So the hormonal is not too out of the realm of possibility

It was debunked recently, it was based on a sample too small and too anecdotal to be reliable (just  4 undergrad girls living together, one of whom had to write a paper as part of her course!)- and it was only picked up on by the media as it was whacky and fun.It was probably only proposed because it was whacky and fun.

No, but it is certainly not proved.
