I think eating crunchy grass hoppers, grubs and beetles would certainly be an acquired taste. And probably a little different from eating fresh sea food. Mind you they eat all kinds of bugs in Asia....and the Australian aboriginal have been eating Wichetty grubs as part of their bush tucker for thousands of years.

Apparently they are an excellent source of protein and go rather well with honey too. :D..

I would only eat them if I had to, but there are already many bizarre foods that are an acquired taste that are accepted and eagerly consumed, raw fish, ducks feet, bird's nests, snails. You eat what you have to in order to survive. During the siege of Leningrad the populace eked our a precarious existence on bread made of a little flour and mostly sawdust. You can die of too much good food after living on a starvation diet, as did many German soldiers on the Eastern Front when finally resupplied. During the early nineteenth century lobster, a food scorned by a US population that existed on a surfeit of beef, pork, mutton and venison, were so plentiful they were used as prison fodder. There was a petition by prisoners at one prison that they not be fed lobster more than four times a week. What we shudder at the thought of eating, today, may be on the menu at Tiffany's tomorrow.

I swallowed a fly once if that counts....which brings to mind this little rhyme :P..

We need to start getting more of our protein from insects.  Feeding food to livestock, to later eat the livestock, makes no sense whatsoever!

Processed insects don't taste like insects, in the same way that processed chicken barely tastes of chicken.  It is the other ingredients that provide the flavor.

Bring on the Bug Burgers!

I ate a scorpion once. I know they're arachnids like spiders and not insects, but still.
