Feeling vibes in a place

Recommended Posts

I've always felt something when I enter certain buildings, especially old ones. Today I had training at a freemasons centre, and although the training was good/ people were nice, I got home with a bad feeling inside me. I realise upon reflection that the room, although lit, felt very cold and dingy. There was a bad feeling in the air and I think I was picking up on bad things that have taken place there. I have training there for the next 2 days and don't want it to be ruined by the venue. Does anyone have any advice on what I could do? Thank you.

I think you're just subconsciously buying into all the crazy stuff people say about Masons.

Just let go of that and you'll be fine.

Initially I tend to view people getting perturbed by ambients and those things smelling secret societies. IDK I doubt anything secret for it sounds allusive to deceiving. I put it down to imagination. It is trash psychology stuff we create our own reality. Sort of suspicious secret societies. This thing smells a rat. I don't like it.

People don't like not being included. There are lots of organizations that are private. It doesn't mean there's anything nefarious going on.

Probably no one thinking the Elks or the Eagles are doing anything weird. Why the Masons? It's the same stuff. Just groups of men making an excuse to get away from their nagging wives.

At least they're not gambling away the house or anything like that. Most of these groups do charity work.

Not at all. I'm going on a feeling I get there. I didn't even know much about masons until last night. I have had these vibes and worse in other places as well. Was hoping to hear from people who have also experienced this. I guess I shouldn't have mentioned that it's a masons building.

I made an offhand joke earlier but I understand what you mean about getting vibes from a location. I absolutely have that happen to me and generally I listen to my gut.

Overswords sage suggestion is a good one,  or try tossing some salt around when noone is looking, both of those are supposed to add negative ions to the air http://www.webmd.com/balance/features/negative-ions-create-positive-vibes#1

Hi,

There is energy residue in all structures. The older the building the more energies it retains.

When dealing with energies you do not resonate with, I like to suggest ignoring them. That is when you sense an energy which 'feels bad to you', immediately think of some thing which feels good to you and shift your focus to that.

Thank you John. It's ironic because I've just read your message, but today (my last day there) I kept thinking of a guy I like, which helped to shift my focus and it felt a lot nicer there.

I really appreciate your input.

Hi,

Not sure you will see this as you posted nearly 2 years ago but I have had this experience and wanted to find other people who have too.  Last year I visited a children’s hospital for work. It was a clean, modern, bright hospital that was clearly designed with children in mind with areas for them to play etc. It was probably the nicest looking hospital I’ve ever been in. I usually find they are depressing and can’t stand going near them. I remember at the time thinking about what a nice hospital it was. Anyway, shortly after leaving I had this terrible feeling that I couldn’t shake off. It was a heavy feeling, like there was a weight on me and I can only describe it as a combination of dread and sadness. No matter what I did I couldn’t get rid of it and it lasted for a few days. Every time I thought about why I felt like it, my mind would instantly go back to that hospital. Luckily I’ve not had to go back there again. Since this experience I’ve thought about what might have caused it and have considered that a hospital (this one in particularly was a specialist hospital which dealt with more serious illnesses or injuries in children) would have seen a lot of horrible, sad things. Can’t help but think I picked up a negative vibe or something that was in there!

Would be interesting to speak with others who have felt this feeling.

I used to be really bothered by this sort of thing when I was younger, nowadays not often at all. The difference is a lot of years and experiences and getting much more serious about watching my own energy fields and maintaining a positive, worldview, to keep it simple. White light protection, that sort of thing is what I work with, generally speaking, and if I do still find some bad vibe persisting, I meditate and clear it. I do not let it hang around or allow myself to obsess on it a moment longer than I can.

I personally tend to think there is truth to the Stone Tape Theory, as certain places where major events, positive or negative, have gone on seem to have a vibe sometimes I can feel. That it is an entity of some sort is rarely true, it is just a sort of sticky, nasty miasma that can hang around until I get it wiped off.

My lady is about as sensitive as a rock to such things, but once we were driving around unfamiliar streets trying to find an address when we passed something and both of us jumped and she gasped "What the hell is that?!" just as I started looking around to sort that myself, so utterly evil and creepy the sudden feeling was in the truck. It was the entry drive into a closed mental hospital we'd had no idea was even back there, it turns out. That was the worst vibe I have ever felt, and the place was at least 100 yards away, so it would be a rugged investigation for sure had I ever gone back :)

It can reach out and grab you for sure, but, most folks write it off as imagination. I know myself better, though, Sometimes, we seem to pick up on past vibes, IMO. If you are that sensitive, do work on protection skills. I didn't for a long time and caused myself some issues before I got smarter about it :)  John from Lowell up there ^^ has a good and quick suggestion as well to deal with it.

Welcome to the forum.

Without saying too much, the Masons are made up of different groups of practitioners. You have have the Scottish Right fraternity, which is mainly practiced in Europe. The you have the Masonic fraternities that practice in the USA. There are many rituals practiced by the Masons, however, practicing good can attract bad and maybe that has happened there. I would speak to someone in charge of your initiation, explain what your feeling it can't hurt.

Generally bad vibes are due to pre-conceived notions and you're own opinion of certain places/people. Although i visited Auschwitz as a young adult before i even knew what happened there and i have to say standing anywhere near those iron gates and brick buildings will chill you to your core. So i think there is some substance to intuitive feelings/vibes. My advice - enjoy feeling something out of the ordinary

Well, you could get all woo, but I can appreciate your feelings without spiritual connections.

The lighting, the air quality, the smell of a building all give subtle clues to our senses.   Even the sound ambiance of the room might seem distorted and strange in old buildings with different proportions for rooms and different wall and ceiling material.  Light transformers that emit a sound on the very edge of hearing can be uncomfortable or subliminally irritations.  See if you can pick up some sensory clues about your feelings.  Good luck with the training.

What kind of training out of curiosity?

That is another thing to consider but I like to deal with the mundane first.  I have felt both the good and the evil and I know you are right.   Mostly it has been slight one way or the other.

Only once have I felt the feeling you described in your pickup.  I was terrified, but fool that I was, I asked for it.

I was alone in a tent on a hilltop far away from anybody.   The night was windy.  I started playing calling songs on my recorder and I slipped into something strident and chaotic.   It felt like something came.  It was terrifying and there was nobody to help.  I started playing calmer songs mainly to settle myself, but the presence diminished or lost interest.   I did not feel like a powerful spiritual warrior, just a scared ignorant twenty something.  That was forty years ago and I have never repeated that bit of ignorance.

This would have been skeery :). I can see you doing it too. You are one who has has wisdom, but gained much of it pulling rattlesnake tails.

Yes our "asylum thing" was alarming. Why it did that, IDK. We drive over that way occasionally now and have never had such a dramatic sense of the place again. It is just a sullen, brooding lump of building these days to me.

Rockstar, I think your knowledge is a lot better grounded and complete  than the expeditions (too many unguided) I have made.  I have been way to hit and miss and maybe a whole lot luckier than I know to have come through.

Something I am deeply curious about is where these experiences come from.  We have them, many people do, there is no denying their reality.  Do they come from outside or from somewhere deep within that is normally not accessible to our conscious brain?.

I think at least once my life was saved by a command for unexpected action that I am sure did not come out of my conscious brain. Afterwards when I was calm enough to analyze, I could not answer the question.  Did this come from outside of me or were there some  subtle clues that parts of my brain were processing that rose into consciousness?

Either way, there seems like a lot more going on than we normally choose to deal with.

How does one confront that stubborn part of your brain that wants to find  a logical reason for everything that fits neatly within  everyday understanding?

What a fabulous question :D !!

The answer is: Depends on who YOU are, how you understand and perceive things around you (IMO)

Tatetopa A may well believe everything can be explained in a rational way and that hunches and such are only subconscious manifestations of answers one didn't see coming consciously. Imagination, bias, delusion, magical thinking, woo, mental health issues cover anything else totally. Reality is only what can be proven in a lab and in any case, nothing really matters anyway.

Tatetopa C may well believe nothing at all is a coincidence, spirit is in everything totally and it all has meaning, we are divine beings, immortal and future gods and with the right intent could manifest a reality where we are ALL Rockstars and high fashion models, etc.

Maybe Tatetopa B would be the best option to go drinking with, though. More fun and a better conversationalist at least. Use your head, but do not forget your heart as well and use both. Stereophonics is always nicer than your basic mono play.

No doubt you have read my blog entry "Why I Believe" here. That absolutely happened as written. So, I have not the faintest issue with you if you believe Something Happened that saved your life. Now, who did it? IDK in the literal sense. God? My Higher Self? An  angel? An ET? Future me? The explanations never could end if we wanted to go nuts with it. My friend, I do not know. But, I know what I heard and what I felt and it changes nothing whatsoever if nobody ever believes me. It happened to me and it changed my life. Maybe that was all it had to do.

Don't worry about mentioning it is a mason building.  Some people will jump on any thing.  Apparently some are triggered by the word Mason and are reacting to that trigger, not what you actually posted about.

I have had vibes in buildings before as well.  It is not something that can be ignored if you feel it, but there are ways to be ok in a building that has some vibe that bothers you.  First, remember that nothing bad happened to you while you were there, second, you can keep a peice of rose quartz on you which is good for self esteem. The better your self esteem the easier it is to ignore irrelevant energies, but also notice relevant energies.  Whether the vibes you get are attached to the building or to someone in the group you are training with might be helpful to discern as well.
