Was James Maybrick Jack the Ripper?

7 posts in this topic

When it comes to suspects, James Maybrick is for now at the top of the leaderboard, displacing depraved artist Walter Sickert (favorite of author Patricia Cornwell) and insane barber Aaron Kosminski. What makes Maybrick an unusual suspect is his background and the 200-mile distance between Liverpool and Whitechapel, where the murders were committed.

But then there is the diary.

There seems to be a lot of interest in this piece of history. The History channel is running a series on Jack the Ripper and the Great Great Grandfather of Jeff Mudgett is convinced that H.H. Holmes was indeed the brutal killer...

H H Holmes was convicted and executed for murder in the US, his MO was insurance scams it seems, I tend to think that if he had been Jack the ripper he would have said so in his confession. Is there any evidence he travelled to the UK?

The show (mentioned above) had some decently compelling evidence that H. Holmes could be the Ripper. Moreso then the person mentioned in the article above IMHO
