Australia's most famous whale has been spotted making a splash in waters off the Gold Coast.

Migaloo is making his way back south towards Antarctic waters at the end of the annual migration.

For tour operator Tasha Mulligan, the sight of the white whale, was a dream come true.

"I think I made everyone's ears bleed from my squeals of excitement."

She has been hosting whale watch tours for 20 years and this was the first time she has encountered the rare male humpback.
