Still Waters Posted October 11, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 11, 2017 Thailand is introducing a smoking ban on beaches across the country with those caught violating the law facing up to a year in prison. The measure will apply to up to 20 beaches in areas including the popular tourist destination of Phuket. It comes after the country's Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) said it had retrieved tens of thousands of cigarette butts left in the sand. The penalty for violating the ban is up to a year in prison or a possible fine of up to 100,000 baht ($3,000; £2,280). http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-41579330
Gromdor Posted October 16, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 16, 2017 It's a good thing. Went to Waikiki Beach back in '93ish and the beach was a giant ash tray. Butts everywhere. Grossed me out to the point of not wanting to go there again any time soon. I imagine other popular beaches out there have met similar fates.
