SHaYap Posted October 20, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 20, 2017 Doesn't seem to be that far off the coast line for anything near 'deep sea' to me though ... ~
quiXilver Posted October 20, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 20, 2017 The Redondo Trench is just off our swimming shore. One can easily kayak over the trench and fish where depths around 1,200 feet.

That's an impressive drop though if I remember it correctly, Deep Sea Category only starts at around 800m ~
quiXilver Posted October 20, 2017 #8 Share Posted October 20, 2017 Well keep in mind, trench counts its depth from the sea floor, not the water level. So it's depth from surface is considerably deeper than the 1,200. That's just the cleft of the actual trench from the surrounding sea bed.
