rashore Posted October 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 23, 2017 Quote Even if there was no local folklore or incidents of car crashes both major and minor, the winding stretch of Route 182 that bridges Hancock and Washington counties between Franklin and Cherryfield would be creepy. There’s a reason they call it the Black’s Woods Road. Even the name sounds haunted. It’s especially spooky on a foggy night, when the trees seem to bend in and enclose the road and block out the moonlight, leaving nothing but darkness. Some nights, locals say, you might see a woman walking along the side of the road, near the still waters of Fox Pond. Her name is Catherine, as the legend goes, and her spirit hasn’t known peace for decades. http://wgme.com/news/local/a-frightful-drive-on-route-
bluearmy78 Posted October 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 24, 2017 Like that story. There is a story about a place near where l live in the uk. You drive along the road, then you go down a hill and then once at the bottom, you go straight up a hill the other side. At the bottom, a horse and coach is said to go straight across the road in front of you, with a headless horseman at the reigns. Ive driven this road a lot in the past, during the day and at night, Ive never seen it, but my grandad swore he saw it years back, when he was cutting hedges back there.
