That is an interesting analogy. I have never advocated the laws that have been put in place banning pit bulls. I've had several dogs that are considered the top ten most dangerous dogs. In reality, they were pussycats, leading me to injured creatures and abandoned kittens. It's basically discrimination based on genetics.

A lot of how dangerous the dog is depends on how it is raised... ie if it is owned by Criminals/Gangsters who intend to use the dog to fight, or intimidate, or they just beat it regularly. Bad people tend to have bad dogs, and it just is the bad luck of pit bulls that they are highly favored by what most would consider "bad people". Going off strength, endurance, bite strength and such, a pit bull is at the top of the line. Fighting was what they originally were bred for, right? Thus comparing them to a rocket launcher. There are people really into to guns and getting something in like new shape will appeal. I wouldn't say I'm a collector. I have several guns, but mostly hand me downs or got them real cheap. The worst that would happen would be for certain people only,(FFL licensed) like fully automatic machine guns. And that alone would suck.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Firearms_License Edited November 25, 2017 by Sakari
Paranormal Panther Posted November 25, 2017 #479 Share Posted November 25, 2017 Die Checker raises a good point about knee-jerk legislation. Legislators often react to very rare events and situations as if they are very common. Activists urge them to pass laws, as soon as possible, in symbolic reaction to (fill in the blank). The new law often does nothing but inconvenience the vast majority of law-abiding people. Look at the reaction to meth addiction and related crimes for just one example. People, in some places, must show ID before they sign a log in order to buy cold medication! Good luck if you have sinus problems at midnight since the "controlled drugs" are kept locked behind counters as if they were deadly weapons. Unfortunately, this kind of overkill is more of the rule than the exception now.
