Unaquired Combat Training

Commodus

Recommended Posts

Hello Unexplained Mystery Forum Users,

I need help with a recent problem that I have been experiencing.  I live in a small town in the Midwest of the United States.  It seems as though something or someone is in the process or has completed training me in many forms of combat.  I've always been an athletic person who has participated in sports such as soccer and hockey, which have exposed me to some physical altercations (I have a quick temper when it comes to sports).  I'm in good shape physically, but not extremely muscular--a better way to explain myself is that I am fit but pretty thin and don't weigh a whole lot.  That's why my first experience with this phenomenon seemed strange to me.  I was sitting in my basement with my headphones in watching Netflix.  It was late in the evening so the lights were off and I had the volume up, with my back towards the stairway leading to the main floor of my home.  My dad had, without my knowledge, come down the stairs and when he saw me, he came over and put his hand on my head as he normally does, just to ruffle my hair.  Instinctively, I grabbed his hand with my right hand jerking him forward and myself out of the chair, where I grabbed him by the shoulder and continued to subdue him with a knee in the side and his arm bent behind his back.  I have no clue what motivated me to do this and although I've been startled plenty of times in the past, I have never reacted anything even remotely similar to this.  My father is 6' 4", 220 lbs., although like me he isn't necessarily a muscular person.  I, on the other hand, am only 5'11", 155 lbs., yet I was able to take him down with relative ease (I forgot to mention earlier that I just turned 18 and am still in my senior year of high school).  He was in the most advantageous position and although he was surprised when I reacted in this manner, I'm certain that he could have resisted me if I had not moved with the speed and precision that I inexplicably did.

A second reason I believe this is that my sharpshooting skills seem to have gone through the roof.  my family have been avid hunters for a very long time.  Mostly deer; however, we have also hunted ducks, geese, coyote, and other small game.  I've always been a decent shot but this gun deer season has been a record breaker, at least where accuracy is concerned.  When I went to the range before opening day of the season, I hit every target in the center.  I'm not talking within the lines of the target, I'm talking the littlest 1 in. by 1 in. diamond in the very center.  Everything felt so much smoother than I remember it feeling.  My breathing was controlled, my hands didn't shake, and my eye was just naturally focusing on the target in a way that I know I have never experienced.  The two other people at the range even came to congratulate and watch me when I practiced at the 150 yd. target.  What I found most bizarre about this is that my rifle hadn't been sighted in prior to the last gun season.  It was almost as if somebody had been adjusting the rifle without my knowledge.  Although I take good care of my rifle, it sits in a corner of my room in a basic soft-case, and neither the rifle or the scope are of the quality that they should be able to maintain the level of accuracy that I experienced for so long.  As an addition to this story, I also shot a doe at approximately 120 yds. as it was running a few days after this.  I hunt on a golf course so there were no trees to get in the way of the bullet and it would have been a relatively easy shot had the deer not been running full speed.  Even still, my bullet placement was perfect and I hit the deer right through the heart.  It ran about 50 more yards before it died.

At this point, I knew of my prior experiences but had chosen to assume that they were random chance and coincidences.  However, I had not forgotten about my apparent new found skills with a rifle.  Out of curiosity I decided to see if my rifle skills would also translate to handguns as well.  I decided to take one of my family's Glocks to the range as well.  The gun that I took had a thigh holster to go along with it and I decided to try a quick draw tactic to start (probably not a wise idea, but I decided to anyways).  Again, my skills seemed to have gone far above what I know.  My movement from the holster to the target seemed extremely fast, at least for my abilities, and although I wasn't nearly as consistent as I had been with the rifle, I was still able to put kill shots on each of the four targets that I had set up in an efficient manner.

All of this, although strange, isn't exactly a cause for concern and I know that.  After this though, things began to get strange.  If a car was following mine for even short distances I began to notice it and I would get suspicious for absolutely no reason.  If there was a person walking by me on the street or in a parking lot who looked even the slightest bit out of place, I would instinctively come up with a plan to neutralize the threat or escape in some manner.  I began to count windows and doors, look for fire escapes, and hiding places without any reason to need this information.  I began to carry a knife and still to this day do.  I don't even know why I do this, I don't find the knife comfortable to wear, but when I don't I feel naked and vulnerable to such an extent that I literally NEED to go back to get it or I'll begin to panic.  It's almost as though my mind has adopted the thoughts of a highly skilled person on the run.

Since this, my hand to hand skills have shown themselves more than once.  A friend of mine tried to fake wrestle with me and I instinctively had subdued him with a choke and pressure point hold before I even realized I was doing it.  When I get startled I often lash out at the person who startled me.  It's gotten to the point where my family has almost started to stay away from me.  They don't say much about this but I can tell that they notice it.  Maybe I'm overreacting, I have been paranoid a lot lately, but this just doesn't feel right and I want to know what people think.  I don't want to go to a psychiatrist just yet.  I'm slightly afraid that they'll call me crazy or something.  Either way help would be appreciated.

Also, if you're wondering about my name, Commodus was one of the last emperors of Rome who ultimately led the once great empire into the ground.  He was one of my favorite historical figures when I was young and ii don't really know why because he wasn't such a great guy; none the less, it's a nickname.

DO NOT quick draw a Glock. It won't end well....

Seems like someone must have hooked you up to The Matrix's neural interactive Construct program.

This is definitely one of the more interesting experiences I've seen shared here.

On a serious note though, I do suggest going to see a doctor and getting a referral to a specialist. This is not something that should be allowed to fester, especially when you have an arsenal of weapons.

At the very least, speak to someone in your family about it and see what they say.

When I was seven or eight the bully from the next grade up grabbed me by the throat (left my hands free) and I drove the heels of my hands onto his temples.

He crumpled like a loose bag of potatoes. It kind of scared me at the time but he left me alone after that.

I didn't even know that was a 'move'.

@Commodus, welcome to UM,

Start documenting your abilities, enrol in competitions and face off against professionals.

One easy thing to do would be to record your shot grouping at a gun range. Can you post your results here?

Let us know how you go!

I survived the Camden, New Jersey school system then the Southwoods State Prison Gang Max. I don't remember what I did but it had to be right. I'm here.

You answered your own query there.

No dude, you're not a closet ninja with hidden super-human combat abilities.

BTW, Commodus, welcome to UM!  I probably wouldn't have joked about your post if I'd noticed you're a newbie - I consider that to be bad form.  It was a low, slow ball just begging to be swatted, though!  As I read the first few sentences, all I could think of was that it was a gag and you were personalizing the plot from The Bourne Identity...

My special talent is avoiding dangerous situations altogether. Being raised in a bar, I can smell trouble a mile away. I can't tell you how many times I've told my husband we need to leave, for no discernible reason, and all hell breaks loose soon afterwards. A police raid or major brawl within thirty minutes after leaving. He no longer questions me.

Yup... try it often enough and the only question is whether you lose your kneecap or shatter your leg... Glocks are funny that way.  The only safety they have is the brain of the person who uses them.  BTW, I'm ALL about owning a Glock.  They're darned near foolproof unless a fool is on the trigger ;)

They were the reason I carried a wheelgun. I never trusted those things.

Actually a Muslim brother and I tried to take on a SWAT/SOG team in nothing but our boxer shorts. That didn't end well. It's the reason I type way better than I speak.

I have the same Spidey-sense, from vastly different experiences though.

It wasn't easy to convince him at times. Paying nearly a $100 bucks each for concert tickets and walking out halfway through is hard to swallow. We barely got out the door that night.
