Italy expels Muslim 'preachers'

Eight purported Islamic fundamentalist preachers arrested for being in Italy illegally are being summarily expelled.

Police said the men were Palestinians who had been touring Italy's Umbria region for the past month in two vans.

When stopped by officers at a checkpoint near the town of Perugia on Monday, they were found to have no residence permits and were arrested.

They are among hundreds of foreigners discovered to be in Italy illegally who are now being expelled each month.

The men were put on an internal flight to Milan, where they were expected to be transferred to another plane and expelled from Italy.

Resources 'stretched'

Passengers at Perugia airport were startled to see the bearded preachers in their white robes with a large police escort being accompanied on to a plane on Tuesday afternoon.

The immigration office in Rome said more than 1,300 illegal immigrants had been formally expelled in the past two months alone.

However, police resources are stretched and fewer than half of these were actually escorted to the frontier to ensure that the expulsion orders were carried out.

Fewer still are actually escorted to their countries of origin because of the high costs involved.

It was not yet clear to which country the Palestinian preachers were initially being sent nor whether they would have a police escort as they left Italy.

Police have said they are making further investigations into their activities in the country.

I saw a Sky1 news report earlier where some bleeding heart said stopping people because they match the critera of a bomber is racist, and that police stop and searches should only be done when there is intellegence to justify it.

Yeah right, and while we try and spread out intellegence resources out to find these people, they're walking right by the police with bombs in their bags. What an idiot.

And as for her claim its racist. When 60-year old white women start bombing public transport, then I'll add them to the catagory that needs to be searched.

The bleeding hearts really live in their own world.

How comes every other nation except the UK expells these hate preachers yet if WE do it, then apparently we are breaching human rights blah blah blah so instead they either get a council house and a big fat dole cheque or a few months inside at her majesty's pleasure?

This is a good start. But it's still not enough. There shouldn't be any tolerance against hate preachers. The main worry is the cost of those expulsions. I think however, with a more determined government, the sea to be deep enought to solve the problem.

The Bleeding hearts & civil liberty groups make me sick, you hit the nail on the head until we get a white western suicide bomber we will then add them to the same catagory to be searched.

Because we're idiots. (as in our systems, not actually us) Italy, France and Germany like us have tons of bleeding hearts who'd make excuses for Hitler if he were still around, but unlike the UK, the continental authrorities ignore them.

Example. Its in London that the bombs blew up. In the weeks since, France, Spain the US, and Italy have all expelled funamentalists to protect their populations. How many has the UK expelled? Zero. How many have the authroities welcomed in? Two.

The fact is our leaders are insane. The UK is being bombed, so what do they do? They welcome in the ones being thrown out of France and America!

Quite frankly the Uk is so obsessed to look like the great defender of human rights and second chances, it willing to endanger its people (and go against their will) to do it. Its pathetic. And if these bombs are to stop, our leaders are going to have to release that the bleeding hearts are wrong; to protect our society human rights must have a limit to whom they are given too.
