I know it's good to be a skeptic, but just to a certain extent. <img src="http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" /> Most "mainstream" skeptics are TOO skeptical to the point where they're close minded in my opinion. Even if there's no proof of something, never say it doesn't exist.

<b>Never say never.</b>

How exactly do you go back into your body?

I heard you can astral travel via orgasm. I bet I could accomplish that one!

really!? you had to say THAT?

so, this is a risk free thing?

Well yeah. Aside from the possibility of loosing a little sleep here and there.

You may get startled a few times, or have to work through your own negativity and anxiety.

It's not a warm feely goodie process. It takes some efort. There are stumbles, set backs, and disappointments.

Its a little work but by no means dangerouse.

The Lateralus album always made me feel odd when listening to it as I drifted off to sleep. I love Tool.

Try some Shamanic drumming mp3's or binaural beats.

The Monroe Institute uses Hemisync sounds, I think they're basically the same as binaural beats. Hemisync is used outside the institute for psych patients, recovering surgery, etc with measurable success. The U.S. government has been sending personnel to the institute to learn how to have OBE's, so there must be something to it.

I have a question: If we project every night, then what are our dreams? Representations of our OBEs? How does the whole thing work?

Most of the time we are only projected a few feet from our bodies. Laying in exactly the same position. Still dreaming... Other times we obtain mild lucidity..,. And flying dreams, astral dreams and others are observed.

Im a 22 year old male that is a reiki master level 3. Since my reiki attunement ( an ancient tibetian white magic ceremony ) I have been astral traveling and projecting quite alot. Its pretty much like going to sleep here on earth and waking up on another planet. Sometimes I have been weeks or years on the astral plane in one nights sleep.

The thing about the astral plane is, whatever you think, will happen. If you think something up, you can create it. The only thing that is stopping you is your own inhibitions.

When I go to the astral plane some things I usually do is fly, manifest things I always wanted, such as nice cars lol, tons of sex!, learning how to do things such as telekineses and channeling energy, or simply just talk to people about life and have a good time.

Now if your having emotional issues astral travel can be a roller coaster, you could meet negative entities and also many guides may accompany you to help you with your emotional stress. The better you get at being your positive true self the more enjoyment you can have on the astral plane. Ultimatley the astral plane is the same place we go to when we die. So getting as much experience while your alive here will help when you become a permanent resident there. And if you don't no biggie, you get reincarnated forget everything you knew of your former life and comeback as a human all over again lololol - which i don't plan doing!!! *if your into anime i suggest watching bleach - the soul society is very much the astral plane. *

When i go to the astral plane the residents know me there as the crazy alive guy, Im flying around, flirting with women, having a good time, then all of a sudden I will be doing battle with dragons and demons. ( sounds scary but I enjoy it lol *most of the time! )

I have talked to many dead friends and family members there, the funniest thing is that they did not know they where dead! We always have a good chuckle when I break the news to them, because they are usually very confused.

You can do WHATEVER you want on the astral plane, do not be worried if you are being selfish, if you want to do something do it. If what your doing is hurting others, then you can do it. But doing so will bring negative karma upon yourself. If what your doing profits you and hurts others in the process, this is my opinion on selfishness. I have talked to many spirit guides and astral residents, and they all have told me the same thing, its about being free and doing whatever you want & enjoying yourself. They also said the same thing about life on earth, you are here now, so be free and do what you want, the only one that is stopping you is yourself.

Whatever you do on the astral plane will also benefit you when you come back to earth. If you are manifesting things in the astral plane it will help you do this also on earth * aka reality creating/manifesting * And vice-versa, the more conscious effort you make towards bettering yourself on earth will benefit you on the astral plane. You have to remember that your soul and consciousness is eternal, so exercising your will power will last you for all of eternity. Its all up hill from here.

Like previous posters asked about turning into animals, yes of course you can, as long as you are comfortable with it lol. It would feel very different, and possibly awkward at first, but hey do what you want!

Now through my experience there is a difference between astral travel and astral projection. Astral travel is taking your mind and spirit to the astral realm, which is a land of pure energy and light, much lighter in density than earth, which is heavier. Usually when astral traveling it requires to go through some portal or wormhole, such as flying through intense light then appearing in another world.

Astral projection is when you release your spirit body from your physical body and are able to travel around earth, such as your room, house, or neighborhood. You will feel much heavier and denser than being in the astral plane. My body always appears to be made of vibrating purple water vapor.

Now as far as the use of drugs and alcohol and astral traveling. I would say most drugs and alcohol would prohibit you from doing this but *Snip* Though if your a novice I would highly refrain from doing so because your going to have to exercise your will power to the extreme limits because its a rocky ride. You have to keep your mind sober while your body and perception is obviously tripping lol. While under the *Snip*, my sacral chakra, third eye, crown and root become very strong, and you can feel them all vibrating inside your body. Ultimately if you meditate on this while under this influence you can feel your spirit body while still wide awake and walking around your house - talking to people - or playing video games while inside your physical body. Its like being highly aware of the mind body and spirit at once.

If you are new to astral traveling and projection I would highly advise working on your sacral chakra as well as your third-eye. If your a highly sexual person like myself, the sacral chakra will provide a calming effect, and also draws energies towards yourself. The sacral chakra has many different types of energy frequencies that you can use and learning to use what frequencies for different situations will help. It will increase your sensitivities of feelings and be able to relax you and better feel your way around the world.

Another side note is that earth and the astral plane follow the SAME LAWS, they are just perceived in different ways, and learning this will greatly increase your spiritual/psychic powers.

All of my magical/spiritual/psychic knowledge I have gained has been through astral traveling and talking with residents there and also through ACTIVE mediation.

Mostly just remember when your astral traveling and projecting just accept it and enjoy yourself. And when you get the hang of it, try practicing your manifestion powers, then the real fun will begin! =D

if you have any questions just feel free to ask!

Stick around there are lots of people that could use your experience.

Right I have finally decided to post of this forum.

A couple of months ago (before really knowing anything really about astral travel) I had my first weird experience. I was sleeping and dreaming that I was falling, and then mid-fall I started floating. I don't know if this was a lucid dream or not in the way that I didn't like the sensation of falling so I basically told myself that I didn't want to fall any more so started floating, but I don't think I was fully aware I was dreaming . This was my first floating dream and was surprised at how real it felt. Anyway I then went on to wake up (or so I thought)and I was in my room exactly the way it is same bedsheets everything.I started with quite 'violent vibrations'. I felt completely stuck, I felt like I was floating a little off my bed, and I couldn't do anything about it no matter how hard I struggled . I was naturally scared ****less by this and woke up after probably 5 seconds in to it. From what I have read it was probably because I was so scared by it. It actually reminded me of something out of the exorcist.

After this I did a lot more research about astral travel.

Second experience. Just the other night sleeping, again dreaming, this time I was in the village where I live. To cut a long story short, I realised I was dreaming to the point where I asked my sister (who was in the dream) if she was there experiencing the dream. I don't know why I asked that. Anyway we got in a car and then she drove off a pier into the sea. As we hit the water it went black. From here my memory is a bit vague. I woke in my bedroom and I think I had a short vibrational stage. The weird part is next where my vision is not very clear and is in black and white almost (It felt like I had night vision). I was sitting upright and then I was falling off my bed (which is not high at all) what felt like head first. It wasn't normal falling though, it felt like there was not gravity and I was falling incredibly slowly (This was the weirdest feeling ever). I was 'falling' into a gap between my bed and wall that reality is about a foot and a half, in the experience it felt a bit bigger but as I said my memory is vague and vision wasn't clear. There was a thump as I was falling and I actually thought I had hit my head of the wall. At one point I could see like spots of light and one of the was shaped like the basic shape of the head and shoulders of a person (possibly completely irrelevant) but I am not sure when this was possibly at the end or when I was sitting upright. It felt so real the when I woke up I was surprised to find myself in my bed and not on the floor.

I not sure if the second experience is astral travelling because I woke up on the opposite side of the bed (double bed) to which I fell off. I have also done a bit of research on astral travelling so I suppose it is possible for my mind to 'imagine' what the experience would be like and create in a dream.

Also, a question about a dark silhouette that stands at the bottom of the bed even in the vibrational stages. I am not sure it is is a person shape as it isn't very clear and possibly my imagination because the room is already pretty dark. (also worth noting a I am not particularly 'up-beat' possibly something negative if anything?)

I don't particularly like these experiences and my dad has actually done astral traveling and the '3rd eye' thing in his past and stopped because he couldn't control it. This all seems a bit crazy after living 17 years without anything close to this. I find this topic extremely interesting and take quite a lot of interest reading post on this thread.

Feedback from you seeker79 would be much appreciated as I quite enjoy reading your advice and experiences.

Thanks Guys

You are definantly experiencing some spontanious altered states. Some astral awakenings and sleep pralysis. it really just depends on what you want to do. Do you want to end the experiences or expand them?

The sensed preseance you are feeling at the foot of your bed is also normal for sleep pralysis. Dont fear it. Relax and adopt a go with the flow attitude.

Let me know how I can help.

I recently did this, and had no clue I was doing it until a friend mentioned it. I can't will myself to do it yet, it usually just happened on it's own.

The first time I did this, I was working an overnight (CNA for elderly) and was sleeping on the couch, I remember my eyes were closed, but I could see, and was fully aware of my surroundings. I don't remember leaving my body but I remember being in a different room (if that makes sense), the next thing I remember was feeling completely paralyzed, I tried to move but couldn't! I will admit it scared the hell out of me the first time! I just had a feeling come over me that I should be scared. (The weird thing was, my patient had a bed alarm on, which never went off. After being able to move I jumped up and went into check on my patient, the commode was moved to a different spot of the room, and their clothes for the next morning were put out on the stand. The patient did not know how to re-attach the alarm, so I know for a fact it didn't go off, and we were the only two there)

The second time I did this, I was asleep in bed, I thought it was a really weird dream, I was downstairs in my kitchen getting a bottle of water, I walked up the stairs, went into my room, and just stood next to my bed, and watched myself sleep.

I have been reading many different sites about Astro Projecting, and get a little different information on each site. So naturally I have a few questions..

I was wondering..

1) Can you go visit someone in a different state, while they are in the physical world. (Example, Can I go see a friend in a different state, and just watch them sleep? (kind of creepy, but it would be nice to see them!))

2) ^^^^ If so, is it possible to do something, and let them know you were there? Maybe move something, or leave a note, or see what color pajamas they were wearing and tell them the next day?

3) ^^^^ And if yes to the first question again, If they were to wake up, would they be able to see you, or would they be able to possibly sense you were there with them?

4) Could I have been the one who moved the commode, and put the clothes out for the next day? I still cannot make sense of that what-so-ever.

1) yes

2) no

3) possibly. If they became aware of you they probably would not know it's you. Most people react negatively to other beings in spirit form. They are just not aware enough.

4) possibly. People do sleep walk and do things that they normally do. I'm sure you did nit do it out of body, but it is possible to do those things while sleep walking.

Your subtle body is much to disconnected from the physical to hav a direct impact. Many beleive that the astral world that we see as this OBE is merely a projected world a shadow if the real one.

Ziggy,

I tried your 4am technique last night. When I laid back down, I started to repeat "I will astral project, I will leave my body" in my head. Other random thoughts kept popping up and I had to focus on the phrase. Nothing seemed to change. It must have been ten minutes before I suddenly noticed something different. I no longer had to consciously repeat the phrase. It became like listening to a broken record. It was just repeating over and over. I began to hear what I can only describe as an internal white noise. There was a tingly sensation throughout my body. The dark "behind the eyelid" colors that naturally exist became more prevalent and swirled about. I always see some form of color when closing my eyes, but not that much, and in near complete darkness. My shoulders and neck stiffened as little, kinda like my head was trying to rise. But that could have been a subconscious action. I kept trying to imagine myself in the corner of the room, hoping I might be able to will myself out. Nothing of the sort happened. What about the auto-repeating phrase, internal white noise and the tingly sensation? I was definitely not falling asleep, as I was wide awake. In fact, I felt more energetic as the sensations began. Is any of this relevant? Or is this just some common late night, falling asleep self hypnosis thing? Should I continue?

Thank you for any help!

So I wouldn't be able to see what they were wearing, and tell them the next day?

Possibly.,,,, the problem is that astral memories go straight to long term memory. It takes a lot of practice and lucidity to focus your mind enough to get to place hold your awareness there, and then take notes on details. Very few have this kind of control. If you want verification.....you are also traveling with a lot of doubt.... You will have to shed this first and adopt a go with the flow attitude. Verification will come, but not if you are operating from a position of checking if it's real or not or even to impress another. These motives cary with them thought patterns that will interfear with a clear mind. My suggestion is to forget about verification adopt a practice for your own enlightenment and verification will come.

The mind is a funny thing. It has the ability to see what it expects to see, and not find what it's looking for because the act of looking for something is an action of thought of it not being there. Only when you are clear of errent thoughts and preconceptions do things start to clear up. Difficult I know. But that's why a practice and learning for yourself is so important. Honestly, most people don't have the discipline, but I believe every one can.

Your white noise and tingling sensation are very good and common signs..... I would sugest rolling hard to one side when you are in the middle of all this. You are almost there.

If you are hearing the massive white noise, and feeling the vibration tingles... Your body should be paralyzed by natural processes. If you roll vigorously to one side you may roll right out of your body. This is the way I used to do it all the time. Robert munroe did it that way sometimes aswell. I think it's the easiest to do. Just do it like you would physically see what happens. Just be sure to get up and walk across the room. You may be out and not relize it.

I read through a few of the questions and as far as I can tell this guy was answering the same way I would. This should help the readers here a lot.

Awesome, I love finding free stuff like this. :)

Here's a link to the Frank Kepple Phasing Resource. He was a guy who made quite a stir on some astral projection forums, following Bob Monroe's footsteps and making his own observations. I disagree with a lot of what he says, especially F4, but then again I haven't had a full-blown OOBE.

http://www.astralpulse.com/frankkepple.html

And here is a free textbook by "The School of Out-of-Body Travel" that a lot of people have success with. The guy who does it believes that "The Phase" is all one big subconscious lucid dream, which is incredibly annoying, but his techniques are easy to follow. Once you get out of your body you can ignore everything he says.
