Freak'O'Nature Posted May 27, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 27, 2006 The safest place for an asteroid to hit the Earth with the least ammount of damage would be the Sahara Desert. It would go boom and no one would notice. Sorry if this is old.

Master Sage Posted May 27, 2006 #3 Share Posted May 27, 2006 If its a house sized asteriod, yeah. If its a skyscrapersized one, weve got problems.

That's probably correct, as pertains to initial impact and structural damage, loss-of-life, etc. However, any asteroid large enough to reach the surface of the planet, while most certainly going boom...long before it hit the ground...would almost certainly not go un-noticed. Raptor Posted May 28, 2006 #7 Share Posted May 28, 2006 (edited) Safest, but not safe. Think of all of the sand and dust that would be thrown in to the atmosphere. Edited May 28, 2006 by Raptor X7
