The idea came from a book written by Michaerl Crichton, which was later made into a series of movies titled Jurassic Park. The idea is that dinosaur blood drunk by the trapped mosquitos provided the DNA to clone the new breed. As it turns out, no DNA that old has ever been found, much less the fully intact strings that would be required for successful cloning. Don't forget, mosquitos didn't just drink blood; they also digested it.

The oldest ancient DNA fragments found are from around 400,000 years old, from plants that were found frozen in the siberian tundra. The next oldest is only about 100,000 years old. Dinosaurs are from millions upon millions of years ago.

I saw on a speacial tilted "The Real Jurassic Park" that a few

collage students DID find DNA out of insect amber, but the

DNA was serverly damaged and their was no way to tell if

it even did belong to a dinosaur or the insect

Scientists were actually really looking into this after the films release weren't they? Shows how intelligent scientists are if a untrained guy writing a book can think of better ideas than they can.

No...the idea for JP was actually taken from science...

It's basic forensics turned prehistoric...
