What kit do you Investigators take with you?

Sorry if this is an often asked question,

But after reading some of the topics, it's obvious that some of you guys are bona-fide ghost hunters.

I wouldn't want to try it out myself, it's a bit too close to scaryness for me.

But I wondered what kind of equipment you'd take along with you, obviously, I'd expect you to take a camera and a note book, but what other items do you think of as indispensible?

Also what about your personal protection? I take it with a poltergeist throwing items around, you'd need some head gear at least? Plus, after reading the Isabelle thread, I reckon you'd need something of a more etheral persuasion, I know that I certainly wouldn't want to leave a place and find that I've brought a 'souvenier' home!

Thanks in advance, and apologies for all these questions, I've always wanted to ask 'real' investigators about this stuff! thumbsup.gif

I assume you're not refering to this scaredy-cat, Pasiphae. scared.gifscared.gifscared.gif

I think you will need these :

1. Pen and paper to take notes

2. Torch light with extra batteries

3. EMF meter

4. Thermal scanner

5. Camera with extra films

6. Video camera

7. Voice recording device

8. Motion sensor devices

I think that should be enough. If you are concerned about personal safety you might want to wear a helmet, but then it would be difficult to use your camera wearing a helmet original.gif

@Lionel, Thanks for that list, I'd have thought there'd be more stuff for some reason, would you take a plan of the building for example?

@ Cuffy, Mate, if for some bizarre reason we all ended up at one of these investigations, I reckon you and me'd be outside providing the tea and toast for the braver guys, trying our best not to ask "Did you hear something?" scared.gif

I think Lionel has covered everything, except for a 'trigger' object and flour or talcom powder to dust around.

Hammy x x x

PS ~ warm socks and a teddy are also useful

When you say, `outside', I assume you're refering to the car, half-a-mile away, with locked doors, and engine running, where I'd be sat whistling loudly. tongue.gif

Aswell as these:

1. Pen and paper to take notes

2. Torch light with extra batteries

3. EMF meter

4. Thermal scanner

5. Camera with extra films

6. Video camera

7. Voice recording device

8. Motion sensor devices

You would also want with you:

A PIR or Passive Infrared detector

Anemometer to measure wind speed

Barometer to measure air pressure

Hygrometer for atmospheric humidity

I usually take a six-pack, a Polaroid, and a couple friends. But then again, I'm not very scientific. blink.gif

Better make it a 12 pack, and a package of hot- dogs. Oh yeah, wouldn't hurt to take along a 12 gauge. May not help with ghosts, but Mr. Sasquatch better not get out of line. He's not gonna' make me Mrs. Sasquatch!

Oh yeah, a little edit here. If I think there might be a spirit around, I just whip out my diving/witching rods and track 'em down. Everything gets in the way though like electrical and phone lines, minerals and metals (maybe one day gold devil.gif ), and water lines. You have to concentrate pretty hard on what you are looking for.

For some reason I'd have thought something with a face guard would be appropriate, with the possiblity of having potentially lethal shards getting airbourne.

Incidently has there ever been a case where an investigator has been injured?

Ghost Hunter Andrew Green nearly came to grief as a youngster at a 'House of Death' in Ealing, London. He almost walked off a third storey balcony.

Andrew Alexander received a smart crack on the knee from a wooden bowling ball at an inn in Somerset while taking a photograph.

How about we add a skeptical, not-easily-scared person to the kit? I've found that having someone who'll say "I didn't hear anything" and really mean it can be very helpful to keep everyone else calm and on-task. And of course, if the skeptic sees/hears the same things you do...yeah, you know...RUN! Umm, but snap some pics first. wink2.gif

The Anne Boleyn Book Of Jestes ~ there's a thought! If she'd spent more time telling jokes than on other things she might not have lost her head under Henry's...oh no, it was a sword wasn't it? (Appalling joke averted) Anyway, as you said in a different thread, something positive came of it.

*contemplates adding "She laughed her head off didn't she?" but decideds it's way too cheesy*
